This is probably the best sushi in town and the prices are not bad at all , especially with the every other places going up in pricing. Note I said sushi. Some of their non~sushi dishes are subpar or poorly cooked but the rolls are amazing and their nigiri selection is pretty good. Would recommend the sashimi appetizer plate as well as the simple unagi roll. The restaurant is relatively small so seating is limited and close together. Food presentation is decent. Would definitely return again.

This is the best sushi restaurant in Gainesville. We have been coming here since 1996. We have never had a bad meal. Everything is always fresh. Whenever we go to another sushi restaurant, we wish we had come here instead. It is just the best.

My family and I eat alot of sushi. We have tried many restaurants and I have to say that Matsuri had the freshest seafood we’ve tasted so far. It was delicious and the price wasn’t bad either. Highly recommend!

My daughter got food poisoning and we went to the ER. This was Saturday 26 for dinner. I was visiting my daughter in college for the day, and she was in the mood for sushi. She had 2 pieces of the raw salmon on rice, plus a simple tuna roll. We shared the tuna roll. The tuna tasted fine but the salmon was off. Three hours post lunch she was feeling nausea and her gut hurting. 11pm we took an Uber to the ER. It was food poisoning. Because she’d had her home made oatmeal and toast for lunch, we know it’s not the oatmeal. Sushi is our usual tradition but I doubt she will want sushi for a very long time. Me neither. I changed my return home so I could be at the hospital with her for anti nausea IV and hydration flush. Obviously there was much vomit and D (I will spare the reader). She was extremely weak, clammy, and freezing. The next day she felt a bit better post some sleep and due to the IV and cleansing her system, but tired and still a bit nauseated, so slept all day and night. Finally feeling a little better Monday morning though weak, and making her way in the heat to classes. She is a health sciences major with demanding classes, so this is also tough, as she has so much reading homework already.

Incredibly high quality sushi. Was impressed the first time I visited and have been coming back ever since. Love the ambience with the background spa music as well. Really relaxing place to just kick back and enjoy some fresh fish.

We found this place by accident, but will definitely come back. The sushi was top-notch and the staff is great.

This restaurant is hands down the freshest sushi restaurant in town and holds the most intimate setting for a sushi excursion with yourself, your friends or family. Not only does they’re fish come in decent sized slices of sashimi, but they’ll lovingly add flavor filled fish eggs, homemade sauces and maintain delicious weekly specials of fish that you will NOT find anywhere else. Trust me.

Until I came here and tasted real, fresh, beautifully presented seafood, I didn’t like sashimi. Now I can’t go anywhere else because Matsuri has set my standard so high. Sushi rolls are also delicious, with the menu featuring both classics and house specialties. For appetizers, try the sauteed spinach or fried tofu in delicious broth. Service is always fantastic and so are the frosty beer mugs.

First off, I got my order to-go so I can’t really speak to the service or atmosphere much. However, my phone order and quick stop inside were both pleasant. The cute decor definitely caught my eye and made me want to stop in.

Couldn’t eat what they brought because of all the pepper they put on it. Portion size was small. My friend ended up not happy with their order either. Waitress was rude, never refilled drinks, when we asked for the manager to take the uneatable food from the bill she said no. Left spoke to someone and they finally took it off the bill. Never saw a manager. Ordered shumai instead and they were cold to Luke warm. This place also is very small and cramped. Go to Arashi Yama. That place is amazing.
