My family and I are visiting LA from the bay and we were looking for African food. I’m so glad we came here first. We had the afang soup, efo riro (spinach soup) and Jollof rice plate. You get sooo much food!! And huge pieces of meat, we got assorted. We all had to get to go boxes because we couldn’t finish it in one sitting. Everything was super delicious and fresh!!! Larissa took our order and we were so happy to hear that she’s Cameroonian too. Service was quick and there’s ample space to dine in. Next time we’re in the area we’ll come back for sure!

I am an American but I like all kinds of food. The egusi soup was awesome. The palm oil they use I’m trying to find does not have an aftertaste. We drink water anything and don’t have that that drippings like your dripping snot from your nose to your throat. This food is authentic. It is very good. The goat meat is t tinder.. I love this place you guys have to have to try out African food , what ever nationality you’re from you need to come try this soup it is really good and get the yam Fufu ,that pounded yam FuFu get that with it .then I will try everything on the menu so get back with me.

I love the food especially when they have puff puff. You should try the jollof rice with turkey.

The customer service is amazing! They help you pick if you don’t know what to get. The food is delicious, the place is clean, and it is a good portion for the price.

The lamb was so hard to chew on. The taste was so dry like it was days old not fresh of the day. The amount of oil used it this meal is not suitable for people with acid reflux or sensitive digestive system. I had high expectations based on reviews but was so disappointed on the food and service. They need to get better personal because it was very difficult to place my order when they couldn’t understand what I was saying and the lady taking the payments didn’t even know how to work the tablet. She touched my food with the same dirty old gloves she touched the money and that alone should of been a red flag for me but I still bought the food and spent $60 plus on a meal we couldn’t even enjoy.

The food at this restaurant is actually really good. But if Katy is working, don’t bother. She is incredibly rude. She refuses to do substitutions that the owner has no problem doing even if I’m willing to pay the difference. She treats me like an inconvenience instead of a paying customer. I have been ordering from this restaurant for over five years now and I did not start having issues till they hired Katy. The food is great, but its not worth getting treated like a gum on your worker’s shoe. I suggest you train her in customer service before she drives your customers away. I know everytime she picks up the phone and I know it’s her, I hang up. I am also actively looking for an alternative restaurant to eat at because it’s just not worth it.

This is my go-to place for every time i want to eat authentic nigerian food. Its always freshly cooked and steaming hot. The food is on display in the hot steam tables, but they have other food options from the menu that can be made within 20 mins (depending on the rush)

This was my first time eating at Sumotous African restaurant and it was amazing! The Fufu and Ewedu/Gbegri with fish was the right amount of spice and very filling. The host was very friendly and explained all the different dishes in detail for me.
