The food here is really good, definitely one of the better izakaya places in the peninsula. We went right when they opened to avoid the line, otherwise the waitlist could get up to 90 min wait.

Sumiya is one of my favorite place to eat for lunch ! I usually order bento B. It includes salads, salmon appetizers, eggs with rice and three SKUs, (chicken, pork belly and beef ribs) they did a good job for Grilling!

The rice and meat were tasty. But the sauce put into rice was kind of light, the color itself looked strong but actually not. The service can be better, they keep take away the dishes but our friend wasn’t finish yet!

The food was quite good. I felt like the portion sizes were quite small so you might need to order a lot like my partner and I did.

Take out first time experience was not that great. Ordered online: KIMO liver, Hatsu hearts, Yaki onigiri, Salmon ikura don include agedashi tofu. Drove 30 min out to pick up the food during lunch hours. Arrived 15 min ahead of time. The food was not ready by the designated pick up time. 10 more min wait. It was a pack house indoor. One customer ahead of me too was waiting for a pick up as well. They had only one worker grilling the food. I’m sure they can hire more people. Looked like short staff and overworked workers. Drove back to work. Tried the food. I’m a big fan of Agedashi tofu. Unfortunately, the one I had here was mushy. The best Agedashi I had was in SF Japantown. The yaki onigiri was tasty including the liver and hearts. The price for the food and small quantity just wasn’t worth the wait for me.

We did not have a reservation and came here on a Friday evening right before they open. There was a small line of about 6 groups already forming. We were seated at the table and were told to finish by 7pm — which was fine for us. There a lot of items on the menu, but of course you come here for the yakitori. The yakitori on the specials are pricier because that only comes with 1 skewer. We tried a few specials stuff but I think you get a better deal just ordering skewers from their regular menu. I loved the Chicken Skin, meat balls, the kalbi was a bit too saucy that’s because we got the special which is the miso-grilled. You can smell the smokiness on the skewers which is quite authentic. I loved the cartilages. We also got the gobo fries — which I had to take one star out because it was way chunkier than I expected, if they had sliced it a bit thinner it would’ve been soo much easier. The calamari was also super nice. I would suggest the potato mochi cheese if you enjoy mochi — this was a good surprise. Overall it’s a great place if you are craving some authentic Yakitori but it’s not cheap so I don’t imagine I’d come back very often. Definitely worth trying once.
