We had a wonderful mother’s day brunch experience here. We got lucky to find a table actually towards the end. The hostesses were very friendly and sweet to accommodate us even though we had given up to find a place. The dishes were really good and the presentation superb. Pancakes were really good. The fancy drinks look very tempting but maybe a bit over priced for what it is…strawberry one was just strawberry flavored milk with toppings. All said its a great brunch spot in San Diego and glad we found one more special brunch option.

Love this spot! If you’re willing to wait for a table (on Fridays – Sundays), it’s a leisurely and decadent meal for sure. Food is always good, consistency is key. If you don’t like waiting, stop into the bakery for a tasty treat to go!

This is my 4th visit to S&S. Figured they deserve a review. The first time I visited was several years ago when I watched Maeve on the Food Network, before she even opened the restaurant side. I have to say the food has always been consistently good, which is why I’ve always returned. It’s a favorite brunch place of mine, with an extensive menu and lots of comfort food. The blueberry lemon curd pancakes are a winner; the griddled and crispy edges with the fluffy center is heavenly. The lobster roll was well seasoned (even better than Luke’s Lobster). Today I ordered the B L A T (bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato). It was nothing extra special, just a typical BLT. What WAS disappointing is the avocado wasn’t sliced, like most BLATs. It was smashed like guacamole. Definitely not a fan of that. And charging $17 is quite steep for having two or three slices of bacon on my already very small sandwich. However, the lobster roll was a generous size as well as the side salad. The side of potatoes are great. The website seasonal libation menu needs to be updated; they no longer serve some of the drinks. The kids enjoyed the hot cocoa/strawberry milk drinks. The strawberry milk was supposed to come with a macaron, but it was missing. I pay attention to small details and paying $8.25 for a strawberry milk should include the macaron. If you’re interested in only coming for pastries or something from the bakery, most items are wiped out by noon. Overall, it’s a fun place to try, cute decor, has a great menu, and lots of beverages to choose from. It’s pricey for brunch: $140 for two adults and two kids. No longer are the days you can spend under $100 for a family of four- for brunch anyway!

Waiting was not bad, like 20min for 2 party. The atmosphere was the best, so cute bakeries and plates. But the food was just okay. We had a skillet and some croissants and scone but not very impressive. Good for vibe.

The place is very cute. The space both outside and inside is fun, well-decorated and very welcoming. The food is very good and they have a number of unique items (like a French onion soup croissant). We ordered the French Toast and the Shrimp and Grits. The shrimp were very generously sized and flavorful. They were the large/jumbo size that you almost gave to cut to get that perfect meaty bite. The grits were perfectly flavored.

Stopped by for brunch on lovely rainy day and were greeted by their warm staff . We were seated after a short wait time ( expect wait on weekends though ) . Absolutely devoured the blueberry love pancakes. I would definitely come back for these. Also had the California skillet that was quite flavorful. The turmeric ginger latte was a bit bland for my taste ,however Café Viennese was surprisingly good . The bakery had tons great of options too.

A nice breakfast place. We were here by 8 am and there was no wait. There are plenty of street parking spots outside. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating areas. We tried Mocha, S&S hot chocolate, Brioche French toast and seasonal avocado toast. We loved all of them, although the hot chocolate and French toast were a little too sweet. The servers are friendly and the service is fast! This is definitely one of the best breakfast places in La Jolla!

This place is definitely happening. We had the bacon cheddar quiche that was perfectly baked to a golden crust and tender custard. The tuna melt was loaded with flavor and tons of tuna. The sourdough is flavorful and it was nicely toasted. The crab Benedict was juicy with a well executed hollandaise and runny eggs with cloud like English muffins that absorbed the juiciness of the whole dish. The Irish breakfast was the perfect menagerie of tasty morsels you really can’t go wrong. The service was fast and friendly. The bloody Mary’s were super tasty. On our way out, we could not leave without the famous ginger chews, spiced perfection with a crunchy outside and a soft interior. Whenever in La Jolla you should come visit.
