The Stump Restaurant whas established in 1996. It was a little white building beside Piney Point Grocery Store. And it used to be called Dorothy’s. 96 Don Collins took over it and started cooking steaks out on of the back. In 1997 they started Construction for the strip mall. The new restaurant opened up in 98. In July of 98 I came in and had a chicken fried steak sandwich in a order of onion rings. I was down for a few weeks with my daughter for the summer I went back to my mother’s house I’m told her for some reason that if they ever wanted to sell it let me know I didn’t know that 6 months later I would be running it. So now I have been here since March 3rd of 1999 at the time of writing this I’m about to approach my 20th anniversary.

When at Lake Sam Rayburn, you can’t go wrong with a Kitchen Sink Burger, Cheese Curds or Chicken-Fried Steak at The Stump. The Cheese Curds were as good as some I’ve had in Madison, WI, cheese curd central for the United States.

Just moved into the area, and we’re hoping to find some good “go-to” places for nights we didn’t want to cook. This restaurant is definitely that place. The chicken strip basket with sweet potato fries was delicious, as well as the steak fingers and fries. We also tried the fried pickles and were not disappointed. Friendly atmosphere, our server was friendly, and checked on us regularly to make sure we didn’t need anything. We will definitely be back!

I have been a customer here for many years off and on. I don’t remember ever having a “bad”experience. My wife and I had dinner Saturday afternoon. Fried Mushrooms, Bacon Cheeseburger (Excellent) with Sweet Potato Fries, and a Taco Salad with 2 drinks for less than $35. We normally eat seafood and it is good. The salad bar is always delicious. Service was excellent. A little pricey but worth it if you are in the area.

Came here for lunch and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Our waitress was very friendly. We got our food in a timely fashion. Ordered the small bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and also the fried chicken sandwich with onion rings. All was very tasty and reasonably priced. We would definitely go back here again.

Got fried pickles and they were ok, hot and fresh. Then got the cheese dip and the corn dip. The chips that came with these were stale and the cheese was very grainy. Quite gross in my opinion. Also got fried mushrooms which were also hot and fresh, but very bland. By this point I was not looking forward to my main meal, but was surprised. Got the grilled catfish and it was very soft and flavorful. The baked potato and veggies were so good. My husband got the same sides, but the chicken fried steak and it was also very good. So all in all, ide skip the appetizers and just do a meal. Also my fish was very small but still yummy. The wait staff was also very friendly

Me and my buddy went to the bar section. The server was very polite and checked up frequently on drinks and food! The food was hot and delicious! They cook a mean steak over there! Tender and juicy! I’ll definitely be coming back!
