Was a little crazy. If your driving by stop and see. Don’t go out of your way to see it. It cost $10 per person and made no sense except one man’s creations. If he place them in groups to make since would of been better.

First time and will definitely be back! The banquet staff was very efficient and friendly! The owner made many visits to make sure everything was running smoothly! The waitresses were very helpful and friendly too. Onion rings are a must and the steaks were cooked to order perfectly and with a large party that is difficult! No steak sauce needed, plenty of flavor! I didn’t get to see the bartender, but they did a great job as well! Thank you for a great night!

Going in it seems like this place is the small town gem. The staff is largely friendly and good. The onion rings come. They’re great. Light breading on light onion. Then the catfish. Not the most flavorful but good enough. Not sure about the hype though. Hash browns as a side though. They were surprisingly great! Then there is the bourbon situation. When you go into the lounge side you will see a plethora of rare, fantastic bourbon. However this apparently is the owners private selection and basically off-limits unless he’s in the mood. So while you can see great bourbon you’re left with a regular selection. Not bad just bizarre. I would go back but with experience in mind I would do a little different.

Have always made it a point to go to Stookey’s when I’m home visiting family, but this will probably be the last time. While the onion rings were still incredible, this visit was the worst service experience I’ve ever had, anywhere. After an early supper, our plates were cleared around 6:30 PM. We had our credit card out, ready for our check at that time. Our waitress did not return for 20 minutes, and as she passed, not stopping, from tending to another table said “I’ll get your check.” She subsequently walked by our table several times over the next 20 minutes, looking away as I tried to catch her eye to remind her of our check. At this point a man came to the table behind us, who had arrived after us, and told them the computer was down and just to leave $30. When they expressed surprise that they knew this was less that what they ordered, he told them “I’m the owner and I want you to come back, so I’m saying it is ok.” He took care of that and they left. He walked right by our table and did not even look down or inquire how we were doing. About 5 minutes later he came back to provide the same personal attention to the table on the other side of us, who also arrived and finished eating about 30 minutes after us. Again, the owner walked away not even looking at our table. During all of this, our waitress, common to to all of our tables, was nowhere to be seen. I went to the cash register at the back at this point to get help, and their were 6 or 7 wait staff, including our waitress, who briefly looked back at me, all standing and watching the owner look through tickets at the pass. After standing there for about 5 minutes, one of them, not our waitress, curtly said, “what do you need?” When I said we had been waiting for our check for 45 minutes, she said “someone will be with you in a minute; what table?”, then walked away. I went back to our table and after another 5 minutes, was about to just leave what I thought would cover the bill and walk out, when our original waitress came by with the excuse for the delay (but with no apology or offer of amends) being the computer was down, but carrying a computer generated ticket. When I asked why the tables on either side of us and who came later than us were able to get their checks and leave, she only offered that the owner was supposed to have taken care of our table too. Bottom line, horrible customer service, differential treatment of patrons, and no apparent concern for customer inconvenience or experience (and all in a freezing cold dining room) made this a horrible evening. Not worth $50 for 2 catfish dinners, even if the onion rings are great, to be treated this way.

Excellent breaded and grilled tenderloins. Nice thin, light breading.

service was Great, food was Awesome! Breaded tenderloin with fries, not a lot of breading on the tenderloin tasted great, steak fries ( not a favorite) but they were cooked good so they weren’t bad. Chicken strip were lightly breaded and juicy, breaded mushrooms with cocktail sauce were Amazing

Over all food wasn’t bad. Was surprised bread wasn’t offered with catfish, and wife said pork chop was a little salty. Service could have been better. Could have at least offered a drink refill.

What we expected from a small town restaurant as far as atmosphere goes. Onion Rings were great, but Prime Rib was SoSo…..

Get the onion rings and vinegar slaw, but forget the catfish. A restaurant deserving of catfish reputation does not cook it until it dry as cardboard. It is supposed to be flaky and moist. $21.99 for three dried out fish? Our party ordered three such dinners and they were all disappointing. We’ll never return.
