LOVE this Southport gem! I got the Steingold’s Classic Lox sandwich with nova lox, a side of celery seed slaw, and a pickle. All of it was delicious! The restaurant is small on the inside but has a decent amount of outside seating. Some of the sandwiches are a little expensive ($14 for the classic sandwich), but still worth it. I would highly recommend giving Steingold’s a try!

Steingold’s was recommended to us by @jackvelasquez as he continues to ride the hot hand with where he’s dispatched us.

This was a nice touch on breakfast sandwiches. Get there early because it becomes packed on the weekends.

good flavors. fresh ingredients. good selection to choose from on menu. appeared to be very clean, including the bathrooms. $15 for the lox breakfast sandwich it was good. comparable to gothem bagels but better prices. better than bagels than kauffmans in my opinion. will be coming back! would have been 5 stars if more capers on sandwich, i’ll ask for them next time. very pleased with my visit. short wait time (about 10 min)

Other than the friendly service this place was very disappointing.

Updated review: the food is still great, but showing up at 10:30 they’re often times out of food. 45 minute wait for an egg bagel, or out of matzo ball soup 🙁

Went out of our way to visit there to honor my dad on the anniversary of his passing. He was a “deli guy,” eating at various delis across the country where he lived at least once a week, and running his own deli at one point. Everything was phenomenal at Steingold’s (Dad would have approved), especially the horseradish beets. But beyond that, and importantly, the customer service was so kind and attentive which is a rarity now. Aside from generally being very friendly, when they found out why we were there, they stopped by during our meal to see if Dad would have enjoyed it, and presented us with a tee in his honor. They made a tough day that much sweeter- and tastier! Steingold’s is a class act.

Yummy yummy pastrami sandwich and some people may not like this but it was the perfect size. Many delis pile it a mile high and it’s impossible to eat… Meat sweats lol this sandwich was very manageable. The rye bread is griddled perfectly and the crust gets a chewy buttery bite that is wonderful. Otherwise all the other food we had was decent but the uncle rube sandwich specifically stood out

Incredible bagels, lives up to the hype as the best in Chicago. Probably the best I’ve ever had. We got the bacon egg sandwich, lox sandwich, and white fish and chive cream cheese.
