Loved this place for my first go! Excellent atmosphere with two different seating areas: one bright in the walk-in area and the other a dimmer, bar-like area. The music playing was very fun to listen to, as well. I had the jollof with fried beef and it was so well seasoned and delicious. Very amiable and attentive staff that are very down to earth as well! Would recommend this place to anyone!

This restaurant has such a beautiful atmosphere with the artwork and the lovely outdoor seating area. From the music keeping a chill vibe, to the super friendly and welcoming owners, the delicious authentic West African food is the icing on the cake! I have to stop here anytime I’m in Tampa and I’ll recommend this to anyone that wants a taste of home out here.

This place is definitely a mix of West African countries and many of their dishes. I was a little apprehensive at first to try it but it was better than I imagined. Cures my craving for some of my “local” dishes on the days I can’t cook myself.

Me and my mom seen nothing but great reviews on this restaurant so we had to try. Service and hospitality was 10/10 we received a tour of the lounge and patio from the owner. The vibe was impeccable. We both got the Egusi soup and fufu and it was what we imagined a 10/10. Food was fresh and hot and was fast. Definitely coming back !

Little slice of Heaven. This unassuming spot in the middle of Tampa is amazing. Great decorations, vibrant music, kind and friendly staff, and the FOOD. Yum. Has the rice with tomato sauce and whole fried snapper with plantains and Hibiscus juice. Amazing flavor. The snapper was a little dry, but that is common for frozen fish that have been deep fried. Will be back!

Start of by saying I’m not a custom to west African food but this was a good start. 10 dollar lunch specials is a good price especially when their menu kind of pricey. I like their take on fryed chicken which is non breaded and the rice is good. The red sauce and pepper, not sure what it was but I would avoid it if you not adventurous.

It’s definitely the place to be for authentic West African cuisine! Merriam has such a wealth of knowledge about the history of African American cuisine and our roots! The energy and welcoming vibe is something I’ll keep coming back for, for years to come. The Spicy Hot Pepper Soup w Goat Meat was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it. I also had the Rice Jollof and didn’t know it was the precursor to Jambalaya! Come, enjoy and leave enlightened
