This place is a gem! Everything from the time you walk in. My husband and I sat at the bar which is a beautiful set up where you can eat and enjoy your meal. There’s also a full service dining room completely separate from the bar. This place is such a treat, our favorite so we have basically tried everything on the menu. The apps are so fresh the smoked salmon served w cream cheese and toast points topped w capers, Yumm! The crab claws are meaty w tons of flavor and the onion rings, thin and crispy just so good. If you like escargot you will love the way this one is prepared! I could go on but let me tell y’all about the steaks. I love the filet MR it comes on a sizzling plate drizzled w fresh butter. My husband went for the ribeye R, also on a bubbling buttery plate, talk about cleaning his plate! Everything is made to order so it’s nice to try a Caesar salad while you wait for the main course. Another win! The complementary bread and butter is even that good. Try the cream spinach, we went for the augratin potatoes as well! It’s so hard to chose a side, there’s plenty to choose from all delicious! Don’t forget to inquire about their specialty chocolate Martini for dessert! If you have never been you truly are missing out! Chef’s Kiss!

Customer service when entering was very underwhelming. Took a while for someone to greet us. Seemed as though the owners didn’t care, maybe because we didn’t look the part. Fried eggplant had no flavor. Steak was pretty good, besides it being a little on the salty side. Our waitress was extremely nice and helpful. If it wasn’t for her I’m not sure we would go back.

Our party of two was shown promptly to a nice table in the main dining room. We gave our server, the five-star Jonathan, our drink orders and while we were waiting, we saw the hostess fall (quite gracefully, honestly) out of her shoe. A table near us managed to catch a napkin on fire and did not realize it for entirely too long. Jonathan made sure we knew more bread was available, if we wanted it, twice. When my husband asked for his steak as rare as possible, Jonathan asked us “Pittsburgh?” We replied “What?” and that was the end of that line of questioning. Our meals came in a very timely fashion and our steaks were cooked perfectly. When it came time for dessert, we were told creme brulee was an option; then, apologetically, Jonathan informed us they did not have any because the old lady who used to make them had died and the new ones were just okay. Steak Knife provided us with dinner and a show and we highly recommend.

Steaks were good. Sides were mediocre. Sautéed mushrooms are definitely out of a can.

Service was fantastic. Everyone was very welcoming, attentive, and very accommodating. Atmosphere was great. Food was fresh and good. Wine list was a little limited but quite adequate. Overall a great place.

Wonderful food and service as always. Tends to get a little loud but not terribly later.

I know the Roth family, and they do an excellent job. Being a pianist, I have also played music at the Steak Knife. Enjoyable everytime, includes eating, entertaining, and socializing. Great experience every time!

If you’re a regular, I suppose it’s a pretty nice place. I’m sure the food is probably good. And the hours “till” mean they close whenever it dies down. I would never have driven out of the heart of NOLA to this place, having known what now know.
