St. Nicholas Landmark Menu – Chester, IL

Type : Restaurant

Location : Chester, IL

The Landmark in Chester has been a part of Mississippi River history and lore since it was built in 1830. Many early leaders of Illinois passed by or stopped in, even a couple of famous writers known as Mark Twain (Samuel Clemmons) and Charles Dickens. As you might expect, she has her own list of ghost stories too.
After being closed for eight years, an extensive renovation of the building was begun in 2017, and in 2018 the St. Nicholas Brewing Company opened the St. Nicholas Landmark as its second brewpub.
Visitors today can enjoy great St. Nicholas Craft Beer, unique pub fare and entrees, and a one of a kind experience in this historic building on the banks of the Mississippi River.

Based on 410 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.5 stars. Price $$

We found this little restaurant and brewery in Chester IL. It is in a historical building right by the river. The atmosphere is great and the food was delicious. We got the burgers and fries which I recommend. The table next to us got a tray of 4oz beer samples…looked like 10 different kinds. We don’t drink so I can’t say if it was good or not. People brought their children and they did fine. The servers were very nice and helpful. It has a bicycle decor. We’ll go back.

What an absolute hidden gem! Had one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Phenomenal boneless wings, Mac & cheese, and sprouts!! Staff was wonderful, absolutely recommend stopping in!

It was a nice place to visit, right on the Mississippi with the train track in between. The food was good enough, nothing spectacular, and the beer was unfortunately lack luster. I tried most of them…….like I said, just ok. The atmosphere and the service got the 4 stars, plus there are limited choices in a small town. Follow your GPS, it looks like you are heading for gravel. However, the road is fine and it’s just because your in an old town. Still glad we stopped!

Have this on my list next time I am in the area. Last time I actually entered restaurant was before the most recent renovations. Like to see if the updates maintained the unmistakable ambience and character. Like well-earned patina, character is something you just can’t buy.

They removed my favorite steak (king cut sirloin), but their food is still good. I have to eat gluten-free, so not much on the menu for me. I will not be going back unless the sirloin comes back. The ribeye is overpriced and not as good.
