This place is awesome! Super fresh fish, homemade tartar sauce and fresh cut fries! This is really good quality food. I personally didn’t love the style of sausage but it was still fresh and delicious! They really deserve to be busier but I think it’s the location.

It’s a great Irish Pub right on Aurora Ave N. We’ve always had great luck with parking. Although, the lot has an upper and lower area and it’s a bit of a hill to climb from the lower area. The food is fantastic. I’ve had the Shepard’s Pie and an Irish Comfort Bowl. My friends have had Burgers and Fish and Chips which they said were delicious. Drinks can be pricey, but delicious. I usually stick to a more affordable draft beer. Friendly server. I only gave it 4 Stars because of the wonky parking lot and hard chairs and booths.

Not awful, not outstanding. Arrived on a Saturday evening around 7 pm. Took a very long time to get beers. There was live music that was nothing but volume. Afterwards, singer guy walked around talking to people without his mask on in the pandemic era.

St. James Gate has a solid menu and great vibes all around!! Kirsten the bartender makes a great smoked old fashioned and knows how to properly pour an Irish stout for that puuuurfect sip!! The shepherds pie is on point and very comforting(also the “comfort bowl” if you want to get your chicken on), fries are big wedges that are phenomenal, can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!! We thought the food was ok. I am still giving it 4 stars because there was nothing wrong with the quality, and they served the Guinness properly, which is important. We just found the food to be a bit bland for our tastes, but some people may prefer that. I think it’s within the realm of traditional Irish food, which isn’t always the most flavorful and that’s ok.
