My husband and I fell in love with Mt. Sterling and this delightful little cafe. The decor was interesting and thoughtful. Staff was pleasant and patient with questions concerning dietary restrictions. The food was amazing. The quiche was pure comfort. The chicken salad croissant was the best I’ve ever had. We took a chocolate croissant to go…absolutely divine and perfectly baked. Highly recommend and we won’t hesitate to return.

During a recent trip to the area I stopped by Spoonful of Sugar to get some pastries for breakfast the following morning. The selection was a bit less than I expected, but still I had no problem picking out several items. Prices are high, but well worth it for an occasional treat.

Great ambiance. This historic building has high ceilings and is spacious. A nice mix of modern shabby chic furniture gives the bakery a lot of charm. Decent collection of art and interesting historic newspaper articles framed on wall add to the sense of stepping back in time to simpler world. The food is great. Generous portions. Service is also good. If you’re looking for a locally-owned cafe type experience in small-town Kentucky you can’t do better than this.

Spoonful of Sugar is a French Cafe and Bakery located in the downtown historic district of Mount Sterling, Ky. This local shop was once Little’s Jewelry. The town loves the neon sign so much that they decided to keep the sign. The owners and employees are always wonderful and courteous. Chef Doug is trained in French culinary. They serve breakfast and lunch… and you can even order dinner to pick up!! They can also make beautiful specialty cakes and cookies!

Great little place for lunch in historic downtown Mount Sterling, KY. Breakfast/Lunch menu.. baked goods, ice cream , cappuccino ☕. Custom made cakes and cookies for any occasion. Beautiful decor.. nice atmosphere.. local art on display. ️ Located in the historic Little’s Jewelry store.. although you won’t find any jewelry for sale in this bakery. The vintage sign was repaired and was left for historic value.

As a person who lives in Western Kentucky, I was very glad a close friend showed this little store to me. The salad was delicious, the fruit was the right amount of fresh and sweet, and the cinnamon cake with bourbon glaze was right on point. Whenever I come to visit, you can definitely expect to see me again.

Seriously, probably the best bakery in the state. From their breakfast pastries to their lunch menu. Their Homemade croissants are amazing and rare to find anywhere else. I’ve tried multiple things here and am never disappointed.
