Family place, veterans own and family operated. Food was out of this world wonderful. Love the prices and food. Great place, real smoked food. Clean, polite, wheelchair accessible, non smoking, clean restroom. Come down and try the best smoke brisket in town.

Excellent meats and catfish. We arrived just prior to closing, were warmly welcomed, and did not feel rushed to finish. This restaurant is still “working out the kinks” in its menu selection and service. If our positive experience during their “infancy” is indicative of the future, I am sure that they will be very successful. (I ordered the meat sampler with slaw and BBQ beans. My wife had catfish, collard greens, and baked potato. The meat/fish was excellent. Vegetables were very good. Service was excellent.)

Small town, southern, home cooked food. The service was great, our waiter never stopped moving and you could tell the staff truly cared about their jobs and their guests. I had the pulled pork and a potato with AMAZING BBQ sauce. And my usually picky 9 year old had the kids brisket and ate it all!!! The hush puppies were great as well! We will definitely be coming back to support this business. The restaurant itself could use a little decoration and freshening up but you can tell they’ve tried and I love it. So glad this place is here as really the other option for BBQ is buddy’s, and we prefer to support local!

I was craving pulled pork and stopped in yesterday evening and ordered a To- Go order. I was a bit nervous because I had never been and hadn’t really heard anything about the place. I ordered pulled pork platter with baked potato and hush puppies. It was some of the best food I have ever had. And definitely the best pulled pork I had. It took them maybe 10 minutes to have it ready for me and the people were super nice and friendly!

The brisket platter that I ordered was 10 bucks. I got it, the brisket itself was slimy textured, fatty, and greasy. The collard greens are from a can, and the potato salad had hard potatoes. I asked for cornbread and was given Texas toast instead. This was not a great first impression. I will not be returning. It is locally owned, and veteran owned. That’s why the get 2 stars.

This is my first time here. The pulled pork is very good with a moderate smoky flavor. The sauce is slightly sweet tomato based and appears to be “homemade.” I tried the potato salad, cole slaw and hush puppies. All were made fresh and were great choices. Finally, I had the banana pudding. Do NOT miss the ‘nana pudding! This is good BBQ owned by a family right here in Oak Ridge. Try it. You’ll like it.

Stopped by first time yesterday, ordered the pulled pork, friend ordered ribs. Both delectable: smoked just right to render off the fat, but not dry. Both were not in need of sauce, but their house sauce (sweet) just added to it: just a little, please.

The owner Calvin came out and introduced himself to each of the tables and was genuinely interested in the experience his guests were having. My brisket was cooked just right, and the service and friendly environment was refreshing. As a military spouse myself, I love to support veteran-owned businesses and Southern Smoke BBQ did not disappoint.
