I had the opportunity to eat here today with my son! Wow!!! It was amazing, probably one of the best meals I have had! The chicken fried steak, and mashed potatoes were amazing, ask for extra Gravy! The home made corn bread was great as well! The cafe is family ran and owned and are such warm and hospitable! It is not a fancy place but very cozy, the desserts are also wonderful! Enjoy, and tell them Ferri Lou referred you ( they won’t know me , but that’s ok! ) the Homemade Lemonade was amazing as well!

Best chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes I’ve had in a very long time. Chicken fried had a hint of Cajun spices that sent the flavor over the top!! Potatoes are not instant, and everything was made to order, so it’s very fresh off the grill. I’d recommend this little hole in the wall restaurant to everyone who is headed through the Cedar Creek area. I’ve never even heard of this town, but if you love Southern cooking, then I highly recommend

Just moved to the Austin area and had my first meal. Was lucky enough to wonder upon the Southern Roots Cafe. I loved this place from the moment I walked in. Very quiet, low key cafe with very nice decor and cool signage all around. Miss Yvette greeted us as she worked diligently with the other guests. Place smelled amazing. We ordered two platters and split a bacon cheeseburger as well. Her husband Michael prepared our meals to perfection. I was completely satisfied, one of the best meals I have had in a restaurant all year! The smothered pork chops were delicious and the potatoes were no joke, the real deal. Chicken fried chicken was my favorite, gravy was perfectly seasoned. Okra was done nicely, crispy outside and soft inside. Mac and cheese was nice and creamy. Started this all off with a bacon cheeseburger. Was cooked fresh and you could tell. It had a great seasoning and the Bacon had a hint of maple to it. So juicy and tasty. Not a dessert eater normally, but couldn’t resist the Banana pudding cheesecake. One of the best things I have ever eaten. If Miss Yvette is making this in house, she could mass produce this and make a fortune. I will make this place a regular establishment for me each month. I highly recommend this place. All the meals are prepared as you order, no pre-made meals here. Come out and support your local businesses.

We had heard such good things about this place and were not disappointed in the delicious hamburgers and awesome deserts however the menu was limited as well as the open hours. Went on Sat morning expecting breakfast that they no longer serve. Call ahead for daily menus. Will try again.

This place was awesome, the food was really good. I had a cheeseburger and homemade fries, and my girl had a shrimp po boy and okra, but we want to try everything. I can’t believe we didn’t take a picture of it as we we’re too distracted by the how amazing and delicious everything was. Also, we shared a caramel praline cheesecake, omg over-the-top good! What an experience we had, this place has been added to our favorite list of places to go. Yvette, thank you so much for our visit. You really made us feel welcomed, and we want to try all of your amazing desserts
