Visited this establishment on 7/22/2023, waited 15mins for my food, which baffled my mind considering the chicken wings were already cooked & my sides were also clearly precooked (except the forgot to cook the potatoes for the salad) I had to pick through the chicken wings bc they were stale and dry, the mac and cheese was awful! It tasted like they need a box or two of baking soda in their fridge, it was nasty and old! Greens had more stems than actual leaves. Potato salad had RAW potatoes in it. Extremely disgusting!! Reached out to the owner via email to privately inform him of the quality of food. He never responded, completely ignored my concerns. If he doesn’t care why should I? So here’s my PUBLIC review! Spending over $55 for two FIVE wing dinners is insane in today’s economic disaster, especially when it taste like trash!

I love receiving hot, fresh Catfish. Fried to perfection with some good hot sauce. Great southern style food. I love the scenery with legendary southern blues artists. The cashier was friendly and he brought my To-Go food over to my table. Great service!

We stopped in Baltimore for a visit and beloved we grabbed take out dinner here! We had smothered pork chops, fried wings, and beef short ribs. Baby those meats were marinated to perfection. Those sides: mac and cheese, collards, string beans, seafood salad, and potato salad… my, my, my! They were doing all the things! Finally, red velvet cake and somebody mama’s banana pudding! My Lord… we were in our glory!!!

How is this place rated in the 3s??? Ordered the BBQ beef with Mac & cheese and candied yams to go, decided to try a bit in the car before driving and I ate the whole damn 2lb plate in the parking lot! On top of that the staff was friendly and honest when asking about the desserts and what was made in house. This was legitimately some of the best comfort food I have ever had and it deserves to be rated as such.

Fantastic southern comfort food! The portions are respectable to the price and the service is great; served hot with a smile! I ordered the fried fish and it was fried beautifully. It wasn’t mushy and definitely not fried solid. The yams and greens…yes! Thank you for a great first experience with Southern Blues! I recommend 100% you won’t be disappointed.

I hate to do this but this was my 3rd time visiting this restaurant hoping the food was better. The sides and desserts are not authentic. The food had no flavor, I brought Mac and cheese, Cornbread, sweet potato pie and peach cobbler. Taste like the cornbread and peach cobbler was heated up in the microwave, the crust on the peach cobbler was soggy. The Mac and cheese taste like box Mac and cheese or fake cheese was used to make it. It definitely wasn’t homemade. The sweet potato pie is not homemade. The cornbread taste more like a plain cupcake with no icing, and was put in a sandwich bag.

Great food and great people. The food hits the spot every time. Definitely a hidden gem if you haven’t tried this local spot. It’s much better food than your major chains. I recommend trying their fried chicken and collard greens. This plate is so good I ordered three. The staff are committed to excellence, and the service is second to none. Thank you, Southern Blues, for the southern hospitality and great comfort food.

I had high hopes for this place, as I pass by it daily to and from work but never stopped in. I recently decided to stop in and was extremely disappointed with the food. The chicken wings were dry and extremely fatty with very little meat on them – they may want to change their chicken supplier. The most disappointing was mac and cheese – it tasted like Kraft mac and cheese from the box. Going to any soul food place, I expect well seasoned collard greens and that the mac and cheese is oven-baked with sharp cheddar cheese at a MINIMUM. Dessert was a mixed bag – I couldn’t tell if it was homemade or purchased from the Food Lion bakery next door. For the prices they charge, I expected so much better.

Traveling from Virginia and found this spot. We don’t have any soul food restaurants where we live, so we definitely like testing out places like this when we’re near one. Loved the smoked turkey wings, gravy rice, collards, and mac n cheese. Our daughter loved the salmon and rice. Husband said he would’ve loved it if the pork chops had gravy on them. Will come back again if we’re in the area.

My husband and I visited here as part of his birthday weekend, let me tell you something!!!!!! The food was absolutely delicious!!!!! We had fried chicken wings mac and cabbage, everything was so flavorful and delicious I asked to see who cooked that fried chicken!!!!! The woman (manager) comes from the back probably excepting a complaint and got thee biggest compliment on her delicious food! We had previously made reservations to eat somewhere else the next night which was a more expensive restaurant, the meal we had at Southern Blues far surpassed what we got there and we wished we had eaten here twice!!!!! We’re from VA and we can’t wait to visit and try this place again!!! The lemonade was awesome as well!!!!!!
