Got hungry for some soul food. Got a surprise invite to a grand opening of a new soul food restaurant in the south suburbs. I went and can honestly say the food was great. Very well seasoned food. Decent portions and prices. They’re pretty in step with most soul food establishments in Chicagoland. The staff was friendly and quick. If u go on the weekend expect a short wait for takeout unless u call ahead. If you visit get the grilled or fried catfish & the jerk chicken.

This was a delicious experience the fish is season to perfection and each bite is tantalizing. The Mac and cheese was just the way I like, this place name is correct. I work down the street and decided to stop for dinner. I was greeted by the two most beautiful young ladies that are the hands behind this tasty soul food. The aura and the decor was very much on point, when you take the time to explain the menu without attitude it speaks volume. Definitely will return in fact this is my new food home.

Ommmmmgggggg…… this was definitely worth the long drive. They even have kool aid …… oh so good. I tried the majority of the sides annnddd maaaannn they were good. I don’t even like green beans and sweet potatoes but after having Soul Gems…… I will only eat theirs. They have fantastic customer service….. they make you feel really welcomed. I will definitely be back. Hell….. I’ll even have them cater an event when I throw one. Guys…. I kid you not…. Come check this place out. I’ll give them 10 stars if I had more stars lol

Giving them 4 stars because of the pleasant atmosphere and kind service I received when I visited a few weeks ago. Personally, I was not a fan of any of the items I did sample (all sides). Still, I may return to try the fried fish or chicken and give it another shot. Nonetheless as a fellow Black woman, I will continue to share this new restaurant with my neighbors as a form of support. I wish the owner much success and am truly glad to see them around the neighborhood. Best of luck and much success!

My mom and I checked them out yesterday for lunch. We ordered the fried catfish with Mac n Cheese and green beans. They cook to order so everything was fresh! All food was seasoned just right and the fish was fried to perfection. The owner is lovely, comes out to make sure everything is good and giving updates and samples while we were waiting for our meals. Please check her out, let’s give this business a chance and spread the word.

The wings and catfish were seasoned perfectly. My family and I enjoyed the dressing, mac and cheese, yams and greens. Great service, food was cooked fresh to order. We will definitely be patronizing them again.

Soul Gem was a gem! The chicken wings, fish, and spaghetti were delicious. BYE Sharks, this was much better and seasoned to perfection. The place was clean and the staff was accommodating. Go get your dinner, you won’t be disappointed.
