Sophia Steak is the neighborhood steakhouse for the North Shore, serving premium steaks and seafood alongside daily specials and decadent desserts in a chic and comfortable setting that feels like home. Like the original in Wilmette, Sophia Steak Lake Forest is a partnership between Ballyhoo Hospitality and Glenn Keefer, formerly of Keefer’s Steakhouse. Excellent service by Noel. He was very attentive and made great suggestions. Sat on beautiful spacious patio. Drinks were good. Brandy old fashioned sweet was wonderful. Chopped salad with kale and lots of great vegetables. Perfect to share. Salmon over rice was huge and delicious. Tuna Takati was fresh and spicy. AUGRATIN potatoes were very creamy and good. Enough to share. Nice dessert list. Rhubarb pie with ice cream was delicious. Will definitely return. Noel made dinner fun and comfortable.

First visit was phenomenal meal and service (Dec 22). Last visit (Aug 23) we were unfortunately disappointed. This is an expensive place and as a diner here I would like a commensurate experience, and to enjoy conversation with my family in the ambiance, not just a quick meal. Even though our reservation was later (7:45) and they were likely not needing our table, our steaks came before our salad was finished. To be fair, we added the salad about 5 minutes after our order, but our server said she’d have the dinner delayed by a few minutes. Gees! Expect your dinner within 10 minutes of ordering here. We left our salad unfishined and accepted our dinners. This restaurant is way too rushed; this is a common complaint among our friends. In addition, I had ordered Sophia style and the meal came without it. I asked for it, they had me put my steak on another, used plate and it came back out in 3 minutes with a few mushrooms on top. On the same used plate! For all of this, when you are spending almost $400 on a dinner for 4 you’d expect an over-apology and an offer a glass of wine or dessert or something, which I would have declined, however none of this was really acknowledged as just not quite right. Outstanding food, but for the price we’d expect better service and the ability to enjoy a 90 minutes meal, not one that was less than an hour. Outstanding food, but the service does not match.

Outstanding experience every time we dine here. Excellent gluten free options. The food is always delicious and interesting. Staff and management is very professional. Atmosphere and high level of service make you think you are at a downtown restaurant. We love it here and so happy that Sophia’s is in Lake Forest.

Food was pretty good but service seemed a bit overwhelmed. Made reservations a month ahead of time requesting a booth. They sat us at a table right in the middle of a walk way, so no attention to detail when you put in the extra effort to plan ahead. Loud atmosphere and more casual than you would expect.

We ordered the lobster appetizer, the crab cake, Sophia steak, Cajun Swordfish, chocolate cake, and tea. The food was wonderfully prepared and seasoned perfectly. The swordfish was the best my wife and I ever had. The staff was very hospitable and our waiter Paul was really amazing!!! Would love to come back weekly!

Had a wonderful time at Sophia Steak’s new Lake Forest location. The atmosphere was great and our server recommended the Oscar Style Black Angus Filet paired with one of their red wines. For our sides we got the Brussels Sprouts and Whipped Potatoes and they went perfectly with our steaks. Will definitely be back in the future!

This restaurant was close enough to Great Lakes to celebrate a Navy Graduation. The service is 5 star, and the food is amazing!!! I had the flat iron with fois gras butter, whip potato, cream spinach, and butterscotch sunday. Truly one of the best steaks I have had. Highly recommend!
