Son of a Gun never fails to impress! The food quality has remains consistently high, and their snap peas salad is a must-try when available. Don’t miss the linguine pasta with clams and Uni aglio olio it’s a guaranteed winner. Their fried chicken sandwich with fresh quick pickles is to die for. The service is outstanding, and reservations are a must.

Some of the best food I’ve had in LA. Best oysters and lobster roll by far. Service was great and loved the casual vibe. Only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because they added an 18% charge on the total bill and say it doesn’t count towards any of the tip. Gave us a weird feeling as typically they say additional tip would be optional and of course we would have still tipped. Felt odd and a little sneaky. Of course we will still be going back, but now we are more aware of their 18% fee on top of the normal tip as well. Bill for two ended up being around $280 with tip in it

If you aren’t looking out for Son of a Gun you may miss it, but you have to stop in because it is SO good. When I walked in I thought I would be getting seafood because the interior is sea themed, but the chicken sandwich is delicious. The chicken itself was well seasoned and tender and the pickles and slaw were a great compliment. I also recommend the fries with the Nashville seasoning. I will definitely be back!

My phone had broken and I needed a screen repaired. Yes it happens strangely once a year but found a place near by that not only had great energy and great decor. I posted up at the bar and enjoyed not only the sea fairing decor but the fantastic Jacob told me about the restaurant and it’s decor being done by the same exact creative that did Twin Peaks. So very rad. I support this place, it’s whiskey sours, Jacob the amazing bartender and it’s very well done fish and chips : it’s absolutely fantastic and we are lucky to have it in our city of angels.

I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich from the store. It was raw in the middle. I had to spit it out and stop eating. Raw chicken can kill you. Be very careful if you decide to eat at the store. I will never eat here again.

The flavors and the service were great although as many other reviewers have mentioned the 18% service charge is really unfair. They should just pay their workers more to begin with. The issue is the 18% service charge is baked into your subtotal which is what you’re expected to tip off of. They should just subtotal your items and then add the 18% service charge and the state tax after that. Expecting you to tip on top of a service charge is honestly ridiculous.

Host was ready to boot us for not having reservations..then caught herself and sat us. The food portions were comical, although they did have flavor. Definitely get the ribs.

if you want to eat the smallest portions for an over priced food, here is your best option. They called lobster roll which is a piece of 2 inches bread and 1 spoon of lobster, joke! Also charging %18 extra for the employees (not the tip)? Why don’t you pay your employees more instead of asking customers to pay them. After adding tip of %20, you are basically paying %38 extra for tiny portions of decent food. Don’t make the same mistake like me!

I’m a little stumped as to how to review this restaurant. We visited for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The place was empty accept for one other 2-top and one outdoor table that was finishing their meal, and for the entire duration of our lunch, not one other customer came in. At 1pm on a Sunday afternoon, your restaurant should be full. Here is my honest review about why I think they’re not drawing any business, because I can tell you we will NOT be returning.
