Som Siam is always a good choice for Thai food. I usually order for take-out, though they do offer delivery. The food is tasty, and the staff is friendly. I especially enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant itself. I’ve never been to Thailand but I’ve seen pictures of it and I can imagine that a typical restaurant there would look almost the same.

The food was good however the cleanliness of the place was a little concerning. If they leave the dining area messy I can’t imagine what the kitchen must look like.

Ordered two portions of spare ribs and drunken noodles to share, however, we ended up not being satisfied with the portions. Also, I did not receive a receipt, and I requested that my food be made to the level of four stars concerning the heat level. Disappointing for the price and having to travel in order to pick up the food! Perhaps it was just bad luck on my part. On a more positive note, the taste of the food was very clean, I just wished that I could have had more of it to savor!

Som Siam is the BEST Thai food I have ever eaten! (And trust me when I say this…my family knows I am very picky about Thai!) We’ve known Linda, the owner, since her grand opening of Som Siam in 2002 (Guilford location). Walking into her restaurant always feels like a sensual escape to a Thai oasis: beautiful portraits on the wall of lotus blossoms, the golden statue fountain by the entrance, and the vivid orchids adorning the restaurant. And that’s only the ambience! Som Siam’s Thai food is nothing short of extraordinary and authentic: with appetizers like classic spring rolls and curry puffs in assorted sweet and savory sauces, my taste buds sing with pleasure and contentment. For main courses, definitely try the Massamun Curry, the tofu noodles with chicken and bok choy, and Drunken Noodles. You will feast like a King/Queen! 🙂

I got the Toy’s Pho with shrimp, spring rolls, and chicken satay for takeout and it was all to DIE for. Generous portions for the price, their accompanying sauces are full of flavor and have wonderful texture, the meat and shrimp were all cooked to perfection. The host was also a complete sweetheart, greeted me with a very warm smile and gentle tone of voice. I live only a minute away and it’s a good thing it took me 5 months to try it out, because now I’ll have a hard time not eating here every night!

Incredibly friendly welcoming people and great food! Gave us a free and unexpected ice cream at the end of our meal and gave my son some mini vegetable spring rolls. Very happy will definitely be back!

PICK UP GREAT TAKEOUT HERE!! I updated this review 4 years after my first 5 star review because these folks make such tasty food!! always immaculate takeout and online ordering is easy to customize! pickup was very easy!! 2016:Chef is amazing, she served our food when servers were occupied. Food was better than Siam Orchids in my opinion. I had the veg Pad Thai and my partner had the Masmoman Curry. They served coconut juice with chunks of coconut flesh mmm. Spring rolls were tiny but numerous and delicious.

Branford Som Siam is hands down my favorite Thai restaurant of all the different ones i’ve tried. the staff are so very friendly and the food is SO GOOD! everything is prepared with care and looks great but tastes even better. i frequently get take out here and can’t wait until covid is more under control and we can eat inside once again. not only are the food and workers wonderful, but the restaurant’s atmosphere is very cozy and relaxing!
