This place used to be one of the best seafood restaurants in Louisiana. Im not sure what happened, but now the food is just ok. I ordered the stuffed snapper and could not believe how dry the fish was. For the price, this food should be so much better.

BOUGHT 2 LUNCH SPECIALS (1/2 PO BOY WITH CUP GUMBO) AND 2 DRINKS. BILL CAME TO OVER $42. WHEN I ORDERED OUR MEALS I ASKED FOR CRACKERS AND BUTTER WHICH HAS ALWAYS BEEN SERVED WITH THIS EXACT SAME ORDER. WE WERE INFORMED BY WAITRESS THAT I WOULD HAVE TO ORDER A “BOWL” OF GUMBO TO HAVE CRACKERS AND BUTTER, THEREFORE WE WILL NEVER BE RETURNING TO THIS PLACE WHICH WE USED TO FREQUENT. FOR WHAT WE PAID THEY COULD HAVE GIVEN US A FEW CRACKERS FOR OUR GUMBO.

Very good family run restaurant since 1937. Old school in a very good way. They have very good crawfish bisque and the chicken and sausage gumbo is authentic and made with hens. Still family run and great food and service.

This place had *great food* and *excellent service* but on the flipside, the “Catfish Opelousas”, in all it’s glory, was underwhelming for the $24 you pay for it.

Most of the food was good, it just took to long to get it. Of course they tell you that on the menu. One party had lobster, which was over cook and could have had more taste. I had a seafood dish but there was to much batter on the crab fingers which took away the flavor from the crabmeat. The other dishes were satisfactory. The bathrooms were clean, you can see it from the hwy and it is handicapped accessible. It’s also nice inside.

First time here. Been wanting to visit here for ages. Always heard good things about it. Remember seeing advertisements in paper of this restaurant since I am a kid. And that been a long time ago. And always wanted to go. And now, not really impressed with it. Had a steak so ordered their lunch 6oz steak. Figured it would be small but not a paper thin steak. Waiter asked how I wanted it cooked, so I told him medium rare. It is impossible to make a paper thin medium rare. Had potato and salad. Steak was kinda bland and nothing to say more. Salad and Potato ok. The young man waiter was nice but not overly pleasant. Had a good atmosphere. I suppose I anticipated a lot more since I admired this place for many years to visit. Not sure I can recommend this to any family or friends.

Good food, good service, and good environment. Well priced for the amount of food you receive. My only complaint is the amount of time it took to get our food. It wasnt a long wait but it wasn’t as fast as other places.

Service was good. It looked like all the fried food was over-battered and cooked too long. Baked potatoes not cooked enough and steamed veggies cooked so much that they were bland and mushy. The decor just looks old and tired.

Plenty of food. It was so hot and fresh. They definitely fry with fresh grease. The salad was fresh too! Crisp lettuce and firm tomatoes. Will definitely eat here again.
