Don’t let the outside fool you. They are cooking up in here. The portions are huge, and you will not leave hungry. Everything comes out piping hot, and you can taste the love in the food. Granny must be in the back frying up the food because it was delicious. We had such a good meal here, and you really get a bang for your buck. So good.

Ok so I just got off work and wanted soul food so I called this place which was about 30 minutes from me thought I’d give it a try based on the good reviews. When I called it sounded like a little kid answered the phone (which it was )Ordered the 1 meat chicken plate with the 2 sides , I was asking about a side to see if they had it (dressing aka stuffing) kid didn’t understand what I was saying so after trying to say it 5 different ways I gave up lol, so ended up just asking for candy yams , greens and Mac n cheese , he took my order and I was on the way to get it , I arrived and was greeted by the little boy who took my order and gave him my money to pay for the food and tip . Everything seemed fine didn’t think to check the food so I drove 30 minutes back home and come to find out everything was right besides my yams was mushy sweet potatoes and my Mac and cheese was just Mac (plain noodles) with a few tiny strings of shredded cheese on it.. please add more cheese to your Mac and cheese .

Ate here with my daughter and got the shrimp, fish, greens, rice gravy with cornbread and Mac n cheese for $26 and that’s with the tip included. We are from Louisiana and moved here recently so it’s hard to find good soul food in general when we don’t feel like cooking but we will be coming back for the shrimp and fish it was seasoned perfectly. Greens and cornbread was my favorite made me feel like I was back home .

Not gonna lie… the outside looks questionable. Is this really a restaurant? YES, it is!!! OMG!!! I wanted fried Catfish, I GOT fried Catfish!! They give you your $$ worth!! I’m not from TX, this place was a hidden gem to me! Very well seasoned with everything. My ONLY complaints are…. they don’t make their tarter sauce & the Mac n Cheese was salty…. greens & fried oakra were so freaking awesome

Hands down, the best Soul Food, actually the best food place, San Antonio, has to offer. They also have a unique story, to how they actually started, in the restaurant business. So far, I’ve had the fish and Shrimp, also the 3 Fried Pork Chop plate. All the sides are extremely delicious, you can’t go wrong.

We love this place. If you are looking for a place to dine and are more worried about the exterior and the location than the food, this place isn’t for you. If you are looking for good food, portions, and decent prices, then this is the place. Food is always hot and fresh. It is a nice place to sit down and have a conversation over a good meal.

When you pull up it’s not the most cosmetic place you want to see but the quality of service and fooood makes you for left about the outside. The gentleman at the front was informative and the lady in the back greeted me with a smile each time she delivered people’s food. The food was hot! No food warmers I’m this place. I’m from Austin and trust me I will drive down often for lunch or dinner it was delicious. Nice jazz in the back flag round with some good soul food, mannnnn. I approve this place to anyone that enjoys good food and service!
