After 26 years of service with Pitt Ohio Express it was time to retire and for me to embark on a new journey and follow my passion of low and slow bbq cooking. Melissa and I have always enjoyed preparing smoked meats for friends and family and after years of experimenting with different flavorings and recipes, we felt like we had something special and everyone seemed to agree. With continuous requests to offer our smoked meats to the public, we set out to find a smoker trailer. In 2013 we started the mobile bbq and spent our days traveling to surrounding local areas to promote ourselves. 4 years ago we opened our Meadville take out location. And in June of 2020 our full service restaurant and bar located in Hermitage Pa.

This was our first visit to Smoky Martins. Friends had been raving about so we checked them out. Boy, did they exceed expectations! We were greeted by friendly staff that felt more like family. Got seated right away and had our drinks and order in quick. We got a pretzel with cheese sauce that was better than it should have been. The main dishes were no exceptions. The food is bursting with flavor and the portion sizes are very generous. You won’t leave hungry! As we were leaving I was already planning our next trip to Smoky Martins. BTW, if you like pizza and trivia then Thursday nights here are for you. A pizza buffet and trivia challenge are offered up! If you like barbecue, pulled pork and traditional dishes served with that smokey barbecue taste, then Smoky Martins is the place for you! You won’t be disappointed!

After initially being on the fence about trying this restaurant,we decided to go early Saturday afternoon. After sitting at the bar and being given menus and stating it was our first time,Char was very helpful in determining what we were going to eat, starting off with the pretzel as an appetizer, which was fantastic. Then we ordered our meals,me getting the flank steak Philly cheese from the specials my wife getting the pulled pork sandwich both of which were wonderful. Along with fries baked beans and Mac and cheese. And a wood fired pizza to go which was equally as good. So glad we ignored the negative reviews. We definitely will be returning, thanks again Char for being so attentive and helpful.

The wait staff was wonderful. Mixed drinks were less than desirable. Don’t order a margarita from a bbq spot I guess. Or at least this one. My family loved the Mac & cheese. Brisket was stringy and something on the plate made me sick for the rest of the evening. The pizza was very bland and basic. Something you’d find at a Chuck E. Cheese prepared for a toddler and over baked.

Yum. Great Saturday lunch find. Had to try everything with 3 meat platter and a side of wings and a sample of brisket. All were super tasty! We’ll have to try the pizza next time!

Delicious food that was full of flavor. The booths are very far from the table but everything was excellent food, server and price’s. COVID separation is in place for tables. The waitresses and employees all wore masks. We also ordered the pulled pork nachos which were the crowd favorite for all four of us, such a favorite in fact that we didn’t have time to take a picture.

1st trip here and it wont be the last. I had the flank steak salad with blue cheese dressing. Both were yummy. Husband had 2 meat platter with ribs and brisket. Both were so tender. We shared a pretzel.

Thought we’d try the place since the reviews were mostly good. Since I’m a vegetarian I was planning on getting the garden salad. However when I saw it was$11.99 and if you wanted tomatoes, onions and cucumber you had to pay more??? I understand the cost of everything is up but REALLY. We tried the pretzel it was more like bread sticks. I had the pizza it was good..definitely not great.

Hadn’t been here since reopening after pandemic. First visit was awful but thought give it another chance, several years later & DEFINITELY will not be back! Although service was good, the only thing good. Ruebun burnt! We were the only order there according to server. Brisket Philly, flavor was good but where are the onions & peppers & cheese, like the menu states? Had oil all over it, I guess to keep it a little tender! Overpriced for lousy meal. I’ll pay the price for a good meal but won’t find it here, or us again! Empty parking lot says it all.

Must try the Texas Twinkies. Great BBQ all around. Not just a sauce place.

Amazing flavor!! The buns so fresh and absolutely filled with flavor. Slow smoked flank steak with white bbq sauce and onions and Swiss. All melded and melted together in such a way that you can’t believe all the flavors!! The staff and owners are very nice and generous with their hospitality!!
