We ordered the pulled pork, ribs and brisket. Sides were french fries, mac n cheese, turnip greens and green beans. I love the fat to meat ratio on the brisket, it was one of the better brisket I’ve had here in Jackson. Pulled pork was nice and moist, ribs were well seasoned. As sides go, I liked the green beans but the turnip greens didn’t have a lot of flavor. I didn’t have any of the mac n cheese and french fries so can’t give you feedback on that.

The best bbq I have ever had and that us no exaggeration. I have tried and loved many smokehouses in this state but the brisket and pulled pork are remarkably delicious and moist. The sides are exceptional and fresh. Menu is awesome too, french dip with brisket and burgers are top notch. Try it you won’t be disappointed. Matt Poole

Great friendly staff with the best pulled pork sandwich in the Jackson metro area (and I’ve had a ton of them). Owner gave me a free basket of pork skins on my first visit just for asking about them. Prices are reasonable for bbq and service is always quick. Do yourself a favor and give them a try, you’ll be glad you did.

I pick up a pound of meat from here about once a week that I eat with salad at home for lunch. I have had the chicken, brisket, and pork. The meat is tender, moist and a great smokey flavor. It has a great price point and a variety of things on the menu. They have a blue plate lunch special most days. I hope they stick around for awhile!

The baked beans were good, the potato salad was the same you can buy at Sam’s Club and the meat left A LOT to be desired. If you want good bbq I’d honestly suggest trying anywhere but here. At noon on a weekday in mid December I was one of only two customers.. Not a good sign..

Bbq beans were delicious- they aren’t typical baked beans but for me they were even better than baked beans!! The pulled pork plate is amazing, the BBQ sauce is just right! Great food for an even better price. The best BBQ in central Mississippi for sure

The food was ok. Brisket and pork were not dry, but everything was bland. It was all brown, meaning no smoke ring on the ribs, brisket, ham, or pulled pork. Two sauces: regular (quite aptly named) and sweet were both bland. They tasted like ketchup with no flavor coming through and weren’t thick like sweet southern sauces nor thin and tangy like vinegar based sauces. The sides were good. Rough cut/texture coleslaw was nice. The gouda macaroni and cheese was different in a good way. The green beans had a rich bacon flavor and some spice -yum! The potato salad was average.

Smokin’ South BBQ has a great selection of meat and has great sides. Seems as if theyou aren’t the most popular, but they deserve to be popular. My personal favorite meat is between their sausage and pulled pork. My favorite side is Mac ‘n Cheese.
