I visited Smith House Restaurant during a field trip I was chaperoning my son and his classmates on. Everyone was so nice!! The food is family-style, platters coming out and everyone takes from it and passes it along. The kids enjoyed. I loved the history and artifacts in the building as well!!

Chicken is okay at best and wasn’t even hot. Sides are terrible. We were so disappointed, especially for what they charge, good heavens! They are missing the delivery of providing a better dinner. Feels like a cafeteria – especially with the tiny serving dishes. Just put the strawberry shortcakes on a nice size dessert plate at least. We won’t come back or recommend.

There were four of us, including a 7 and a 10 year old, and we all enjoyed our visit. I love their new concept of separate dining with smaller tables. Service was excellent, food was hot and delicious, and we were able to take the leftovers home. I see this as a lot less waste of food. I highly recommend the Smith House for your next dining experience in Dalonegha.

You will definitely get that at home cooking feeling here. Very friendly staff and takes get care of you while dinning. If I’m being honest the food definitely could have used more seasoning, but it’s unique experience.

First time visiting, and it was not disappointing. The food is brought to the table based on the established menu. Therefore, no ordering is necessary. Farm to table country style food that was delectable. A couple of the vegetable dishes were lukewarm, thus 4 stars but still seasoned well and not overly cooked. Husband enjoyed the fried chicken and pot roast (I don’t eat meat). His was impressed with the way the pot roast did not require a lot of chewing, and it was so savory. The staff and servers, top notch! So polite and attentive to every need. And not just the same server came to our table. This place was very busy with large groups of people but there was no long wait. To top off the evening, you can learn a little history about the hotel and the mine shaft discovered during renovations.

The Smith House Restaurant and Hotel is a long time landmark of Dahlonega. When you go into the restaurant proceed over to the cashier who will explain the procedure for family style dining and collect your payment, as of 05/27/2023 the price has gone up to $25 per adult. Downstairs you’ll wait in line to be seated and served. Drink options are water, tea, lemonade, coffee. On Saturdays there are two meats and a variety of vegetables which are the same each week. Of all the country food I’ve every had this is somewhere in the middle on taste, however the fried chicken is very good. I will continue to dine here when I am in the area.
