I was looking forward to having some good, quality authentic pupusas at the Harbor Market. As the owner is Salvadoran I thought it was going to be good. Unfortunately I was wrong! To start the pupusas were so crispy on one side that you couldn’t cut thru them. The filling to corn meal ratio is off as you can barely taste what’s inside. The sauce was too runny and bland and the Cortido (slaw you put on the pupusas) was also blah! We ordered a cheese with jalapeño, bean with cheese and bean, cheese and pork pupusa yet we could barely taste the difference between them!? At $10 a piece I expected a better tasting quality product. Also $8 for a single watered down drink?! You can go to almost any Salvadoran Restaurant in the Chicagoland area and get much better tasting pupusas and drinks at a fraction of the cost. It’s too bad because they’re missing the mark on capturing the market share in the area for those looking for tasty Salvadoran fare. As for their “hand dyed” clothing I see absolutely nothing special about it and don’t see it as any draw to the business. Lastly, it’s great that they’re trying to be environmentally conscious with their biodegradable cups, straws and cutlery but they need to focus on creating a better tasting quality product for the price that they’re charging or the rest won’t matter.

Stopped at this stall while we were at the Kenosha Harbor Market, had some pretty awesome Cheese & Jalapeño Pupusas. Would recommend this place over most others at the market, friendly staff and decent prices for the event.
