The Original Skorpios restaurant was founded in 1979 by Theotokis (Dennis) Goussis. After 44 years of serving the Huntington Community, Dennis retired in March of 2023. His daughter Christina who has always been involved with the family restaurant met her now husband John (Yanni) Koukounas in 2020 who along with his family owns Avli the Little Greek Tavern & Kitchen in Bayside and Hempstead. Together they opened Skorpios by Avli. Truly the perfect marriage of two well known family owned establishments now serving the Huntington community with the most authentic Greek cuisine including the most delicious family recipes!

Interesting experience…Several people in the restaurant, we were the only diners, the rest were just locals hanging out talking. Not sure exactly what was going on. On the positive side, the food was quite good, the portions were large and the quality good. What it lacks in atmosphere, it makes up in the good food. We’ve decided that next time we’ll get our food to go!

Skorpio’s brings Greece to you right here on Long Island. Opa!!! The food here is both plentiful and delicious. The artfully painted walls depict the beauty of the islands in the Aegean and Ionian Seas. Tonight we started with Saganaki. The cheeses were tasteful, and cherry tomatoes roasted delivered an addictive sweetness. For dinner, I enjoyed their Gyro sandwich. It was so big; half went home. My husband opted for the dinner special of Sauteed Soft Shell Crabs in a Francaise sauce. He remarked the crabs were a good size and prepared perfectly. Lemonina, our server, was attentive, pleasant, and provided excellent service as was Nicole, who displayed masterful talent in public-relations. So when a desire to visit the Mediterranean arises and you can not make it to the airport, drive to Skorpio’s in Huntington. Then head north and enjoy the views of the Long Island Sound. While you can’t make a good comparison between the two, you can do takeout here and enjoy the sunset. Opa!

Such a great gem in a sea of restaurants in Huntington Village! My girlfriend and I got dinner here before a show at the Paramount. I was able to make a reservation at our preferred time the same morning of the show, just to be safe.

The food is excellent but the service has consistently been sub par. On Friday the service issue was plainly due to lack of service staff. We will continue to go to Chianti, for the food, and continue to arrive with low expectations as far as service is concerned.
