We went to walk around the Village of Northport on a Sunday night and ended up at Skippers for some dinner and drinks. We started with a few drinks and then asked our waitress Erin for some recommendations for dinner. Erin was very knowledgeable with menu options and was able to point me towards some of the most popular and delicious plates. She recommended me to get the swordfish which was excellent! We also ordered the salmon, and steak tacos. Everything was very good so we decided to stay for dessert. We got an order of the raspberry crème brûlée, and the bread pudding. Again, everything was fresh and delicious. Throughout the rest of our time there Erin was very helpful, and courteous and kept all our drinks refilled. The restaurant is located right on the corner nearest the water in Northport. On a nice day you could sit outside and get the cool breeze off the water with a beautiful view of the harbor with all the sailboats. I would certainly recommended trying Skippers!

Expensive, but good. Worth it for the experience but I will explain why I only gave 3 stars. In dining experience for the most part is wonderful. The food is great. Staff is usually very professional, kind, and attentive. However, they’re a corner bar in the heart of Northport that closes their kitchen by 9:30 pm most nights including Saturday’s, and they do not offer take out. When you google the restaurant it gives two options for online ordering, both which are misleading and false. I called the restaurant to place an order for pick up, and the staff member was “not sure what website [I] was looking at.” The second option is ordering through a third party website that essentially brings you to a landing page that states “online ordering unavailable.” Given the establishments location, I am disappointed they do not make themselves more available at high volume times. Maybe I am just use to living in areas where places stay open much later, but 9:30 pm on a Saturday in the month of June for a north shore Main Street bar and restaurant? At minimum they could offer in-person pick up for orders to be placed at the bar. I’m sure many people would gladly pick up and pay ahead, which in turn would result in increased revenue, popularity, notoriety and positive experiences for patrons and locals. The staff is nevertheless lovely, and the food is excellent. I just wish they were more accommodating during the weekends especially during summer months.

Sunday brunch was great! Their pancakes are the size of the plate, and twice as thick. Worth going back again just for those. We also had the all American burger (disappeared quickly), fish and chips (house-made chips), and their salads were very nice all around. Their staff are super friendly, and the vibe was very comfortable. Thank you for a nice mother’s day brunch!

I visited this restaurant with 2 friends on Friday. Overall, when we paid the bill we provided a 25% tip without looking at the bill closely since the waitstaff was hovering over us when she handed over the bill. When we looked at the bill, we were surprise to find they overcharged a fish/chip dish by an additional $10, then we saw a $2 charge for a red sauce for the calamari as we did not like the white sauce provided. And a $5 charge for water. Plus, a 3% added surcharge for using our credit card. Overall, very disappointed that we all agreed never again.

Very nice place right outside of the marina. Outside and inside seating is available. The weather was very cooperating, and they had the front windows open to give the establishment an open feeling being seated inside. The food was fantastic, and our waiter was attentive and courteous. The establishment was very busy, and the food was served in good time, with a well orchestrated staff.

A few things that made my visit to Skippers both disappointing and unenjoyable.

Food was tasty, but didn’t match the description on the menu. Waitress was pushing for sales constantly. Ordered salmon with “beet risotto” and received salmon with white rice and scallions, when brought up to the waitress she described what it would be and ignored the plate of rice in front of her that was clearly not even a bit red or cheesy.
