Jamaican food is another favorite of mine. When I visit different cities I like to experience it. The food was good and decent portions of meat for the price. The service was a bit slow (1 person serving & the register). The atmosphere was quiet, mostly takeout. I would eat here again.

So done with Sister’s Island Cuisine in Middletown NY. Meals are hit or miss more disappointing than good. I know how to cook good Jamaican cuisine and this is far from it. Prices going up and portion size decreased. Food quality has gone from bad to worse. Uncooked rice or soggy rice, rushed meat no flavor or oxtail is hard. Same applies to goat. Sometimes tasteless too salty, greasy or excessive pepper. It seems as if the cook is not happy. Maybe it’s time for some competition. Let’s get Mario out of retirement. I was a regular and I told them to their face that I would not be returning.

First time I had their food the Oxtail was excellent. Second time you could tell they struggled to keep up the good consistency with it. Third time I was extremely dissatisfied which happened to be my last. My wife picked up some large Oxtail dinners and to our surprise the bill was astronomical. $60 plus for two large oxtail plates and a large Stew chicken. Well let’s just say they put plenty of bones with little to no meat in both plates of oxtail. Not enough in two plates for an actual large plate. I’ve eaten at plenty of Jamaican spots so I know what is a decent portion, then the meat that was there wasn’t trimmed properly where there was so much fat on it still I felt like they didn’t trim it at all. Then there was a river of grease at the bottom of my rice that flowed back and forth like a water current. Very poor oil portions and fat trimming. We both felt sick after trying to eat around all the bones, oil and fat. Rice wasn’t that good either but passable at best. The meat and gravy I did eat had good flavor but in the end we felt like we waisted our money just to feel sick afterwards. I wish I had taken the photo of the food b4 I cleared the plate. I’m just done wit dem.

If you want Jamaican food at a good price point and good portions this is the place for you. Jerk chicken is always juicy and they give the sauce on the side if you want it that way. I always get take out and the food is always consistent.

I went there this morning at 11:45, the soup was not done yet and rice & beans was not done yet , and to top it off, the young lady that was taking care of me, had nothing but an attitude. I still order the food because it was for my husband. I order a medium curry chicken with white rice. Once I got home I realize there was only like five pieces of chicken small little piece. I am so done with them last time I’m going there.

Been coming here for a very long time since it was known as MARIO’S ISLAND CRUSINE. Im dissatisfied They are VERY stingy when it comes to portioning the food & sauce over the rice and chicken as intended(multiple occasions). I always get the jerk chicken with rice & plantains they put little to no jerk sauce over the chicken and rice. the chicken was dry. And sometimes i ask for extra jerk sauce, to them extra is alittle spoon full. I was so disappointed. I honestly believe they do that to keep it for themselfs smh.& Their is no need to be cheap with portioning out food as a paying customer. Hate to say it this will be my last time!
