I’ve never had dry hot pot before until coming to Simmer Huang Miao Grill…and now, I am officially hooked! The seafood dry pot was flavorful with a wonderful numbing spice. We also had the pork and chive dumplings, plus fried buns with condensed milk for dessert—both of which were very delicious. Service was also very quick and friendly. I can’t wait to return. 5 stars!

Unlike other folks who have tried the S. CA locations, we were not familiar with the simmer pots/dishes. So, we decided to try dumplings and other items that we have had in other places locally. I have posted my receipt to show all we ordered, the price, and that they didn’t automatically charge a tip/gratuity, as some reviews I’ve read made it sound like this was happening to parties of all sizes We were a party of 4. Food quality and taste were excellent and everything was freshly made and the prices were excellent for the quality. We enjoyed the pacing of the food we ordered and we had a great time enjoyjng the food and not feeling rushed. The atmosphere is comfortable and service was attentive and polite. The resto was clean and everyone wore masks and gloves. Overall, it was a great experience and we would go back to perhaps have more of what we had and try a simmer pot.

I heard about this place from word of mouth and damn, I am so glad I came to give it a try. The beef rib dry pot was definitely the star of the show. Not too oily and the right amount of spice. I also ordered the dumplings and berkshire pork XLB as I saw an employee wrapping them fresh in the front of the restaurant. They were incredibly juicy and flavorful. And of course, the service was amazing! Servers often came to check on us and loved to hear our feedback. Can’t wait to eat here again❤️

The service here is amazing!! Everyone is so kind & welcoming. They thoroughly explained their menu & made sure the tables were very tidy. This place should not be mistaken for a hot pot restaurant, they actually have the meal cooked for you and when it comes to your table, they add the sauce & simmer it for a few minutes. The meal did take some time to prep though & it’s very costly but delicious! The pot itself can feed up to three people. We had lamb skewers, lobster seafood option, 2 sides & a beer and it totaled to $135 (including 20% tip).

I went in super hungry and left stuffed. However, I was very unimpressed with their beef noodle soup. the broth was way too light for 紅燒 (braised) broth. the beef should probably be cooked an hour longer. Lastly, the noodle to soup ratio was way out of proportion. Too much noodles. Lastly the atmosphere, they had napkins/smallware “cart” between 2 booths. That is so distracting when a waiter walks by to grab something instead of wait on you. It’s also so Asian when the host/manager/owner is so oblivious of street vendor vs fine-dining. I wish them the best of luck.

Really good northern spicy dishes! If you can handle numbing spice, then this is the place for you! They serve grilled fish in a spicy broth and it’s so delicious.

Stopped by to try the dry hot pot as this would be closer to me than SF with better parking. This is located at Serramonte Mall so plenty of parking, although I don’t really like how they redid the parking lot. Scan the barcode to order. We ordered beef rib dry pot, chicken fried rice, and pork dumplings. The fried rice was ok, mainly got this for my son and he loved it. Pork dumplings was a good portion, not cheap on the filling. Dry hot pot was good, decent portion for about 2-3 people, good flavor, not to spicy. Definitely will be back.

This is a restaurant I’ve been waiting for 3 years. This was supposed to open about 3 years ago and I know the owner actually went to SoCal (the early franchise in the US) for training about 3 years ago.

Came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon with a party of 4. We got seated right away and accommodated us to sit further back due to warmth. We ordered their most famous simmer pots but customized it ourselves and paid a total of $84 including a bowl of rice and beef roll appetizer. We really enjoyed the savory spicy sauce with our 6 chosen items: Napa cabbage, chicken wings, beef rolls (don’t confuse with the appetizer; this is beef wrapped around enoki), rice cakes, bean curd, and enoki mushrooms. My mom loved it enough to want to take the sauce home to add it on top of her own dishes.

Their Berkshire pork XiaoLongBao ( soup dumplings) has little steam outlet on top so you don’t accidentally burn your tongue and cools off just perfectly. All other food was tasty too – Fish hot pot
