I love this place. Their fried rice is as good as it get like back in the day in NY so delicious. My fav is the shrimp in lobster sauce. Today I had lobster with scallions and ginger sauce. They call me when they have it because you won’t find it in the menu.

The restaurant is showing its age, but the food was delicious. This isn’t your run of the mill NY style Chinese food, it’s more traditional, and fresh.

It was empty when we came in and that’s the kind of atmosphere we really enjoy! Great service, amazing food! We got Crab Wontons, egg drop soup, pot stickers, a veggie and an egg roll, sesame chicken, and the fried Chilean sea bass. The egg drop soup was awesome which is a great way to judge a Chinese restaurant they had real fried crispy noodles for the egg drop which is a HUGE BONUS in my book. The crab wontons were everything i wanted them to be, stuffed full of cream cheese and crab with very crisp and fresh wonton wrappers. everything that was fried was done so to perfection! The Sea bass was fantastic, especially with the jalapenos (I’d ask for extra, yum). the pot stickers were also very good, but the real star there was the hoisin sauce that came with them! thick and flavorful, not at all watery. i wanted to ask for a huge cup to go lol! our server was very nice and happy to welcome us to our first of many visits to Silver Star Chinese! (5 gold stars if you ask me )

Not the greatest Chinese I’ve ever had. But the staff was extremely nice, good service. Food just wasn’t that great. I had the chicken and broccoli and some cream cheese wontons.

So far the worst we’ve been to in Jax. Huge portions but tastes awful! No flavors! The texture of meat is slimey, the sauce is gross, even the white rice was bad. We tried each others food…nope, awful. Took it to go, to the roommates. 1 bite each and they said they couldn’t eat it. So, 7 different palletes all same opinion. Disgusting taste and texture. No idea why they have some decent reviews. The tables were sticky across entire thing, place reeks like mold/musty smell, they put a fan on the floor next to us blowing directly on us 2 feet away, would NOT recommend. The server was friendly.

Place is dated but customer service was ok. Food was good, hot and good portion size. But I did ask for lobster Cantonese and they said they don’t have lobster, you have to make a request ahead of time. We also wanted bar b que ribs appetizer and she said that they don’t have that either.

Food was pretty good definitly worth eating. Restaurant itself is a little run down but service was fantastic. I would recommend it to try and see how you feel about it. There is however no fountain drinks but they offer unlimited tea and water.

The food is always good and they have a pretty big selection of items to choose from as well as large portions! We usually call in and pick up but decided to have dinner there last night. It was delicious. They offer a slightly different menu if you eat in. This place is our go-to for Chinese food!

The flavors of the food at Silver Star are good, hence the two stars. The fried shrimp balls had a lot of shrimp in them compared to other places, and the Lo Mein was very tasty. The reason for no more than two stars stops with the taste of the food. Some of the dim sum/pot stickers were very sparingly filled. Also, when we go out to eat we go for the food, yes, but if the restaurant is filthy and the service is extremely slow then we most likely won’t return or recommend for others to go there. This is truly the dirtiest restaurant we’ve eaten in since we’ve moved to Jacksonville. There’s outdated and then there’s dirty – this falls into both categories but heavy on the latter. It’s a bit unsettling to see the filth in the restaurant and bathroom when we are eating from their kitchen. I think there are many better options in Jax for Dim Sum – like Pho Dim Sum, for instance. As far as the rest of the food goes maybe it’s alright, but the reason this place is so highly rated escapes me.
