Very clean restaurant and restroom. Very polite staff and waitress. The food was cooked perfectly and flavorful! I was super happy that the rice actually had flavor (when most places do no not). We ordered a kids chicken tender with fries, frilled chicken tacos with Shugs sauce, and a classic burger medium well. The burger was cooked exactly how asked, the fries and chicken were fresh and not over seasoned and the chicken tacos were juicy! This place nailed it and made our stop in South Carolina worth it!

We stopped here on our drive to Florida. Are we glad that we did! The food and service was fantastic! We ordered the fried green tomatoes, pecan encrusted chicken salad, and a hamburger with mashed potatoes and gravy. We also had to try a warm homemade brownie with ice cream and hot fudge topping for dessert. I would love to try everything on their menu! Going to this restaurant is a memorable experience. From the time that you walk through their front door you feel welcome and when you leave, you just think about returning.

What a find in the little town of St. George. Shugs is a true Southern style Soul food restaurant in a town that seems to appreciate it. The table next me had three ladies that were having an evening out enjoying the great eats. I had a southern fried chicken breast that had a nice breading that was perfectly density and was crispy. I also had a side of traditional baked macaroni and cheese. I even got a bit of the crusted cheese from the top layer. My other side was garlic mashed potatoes that the waitress turned me on to. It was smooth and rich with flavor and a hint of garlic. The service was was great for the time of night we came it at and the owner stopped by our table. I love this in a small place. It makes you feel like you matter. This is the place to visit in St. George South Carolina.

Delicious southern comfort food at great prices. I ordered the fish and shrimp combo and my husband ordered the fried chicken. Everything was perfectly fried and very tasty. Mac n cheese was also very tasty. A huge plus was meeting and talking to the owners who are very friendly and make you feel at home. Congratulations to Shugs who are about to celebrate 5 years since they opened. Well deserved success.

Lovely establishment. Clean, open floor plan, and decorated in a fun manner. Tables, booths, and tall tables near the bar are available. Full menu of appetizers, salad, sandwiches, burgers and entrees. All looked sooo good. We had the melt in your mouth chicken livers, with the chef’s secret sauce, and fried green tomatoes. Yum!

Wings, shrimp, oysters, fried chicken, fries, and mac n cheese. All delicious. Not the healthiest meal in the world but they have a pretty varied menu. Really a great stop if you are in the area. Everyone in the place was outgoing and friendly including the staff, owners, and other customers. Not to mention that no one complained when my kid was running around like a crazy person…

Most pleasant restaurant experience in a long time. Noah, the chef, and his wife Blanche were so very personable and pleasant to talk with. The fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac & cheese and even the cornbread (mine and my wife’s because she was full ) were all delicious. Great comfort food just off the interstate for weary travellers
