I went with a friend and we both loved the food. We discussed our meal after and it was honestly difficult to pick a favorite dish. Our server was nice and informative and the food came out quickly. The cocktails were great and even though we only intended to order one drink, the cocktail we ordered was so delicious we ended up ordering another round. The sushi was delicious and so was the chicken skewer but the corn and eggplant ended up being our two favorites, as they were very flavorful and unique. We couldn’t pick a dessert since there’s many good options, so we ended up ordering the churros and the cheesecake. Given that they were both amazing, I’d recommend trying multiple desserts if you have the appetite. The design of the restaurant is excellent, the natural wood and stone with the tea pots and sake barrels look great and the seating was very comfortable. I just moved to DC and this has been my best meal so far.

This restaurant is very special. The customer service is top notch and the wait staff/management really pay attention to detail. We were celebrating two job promotions within our friend group and they helped us celebrate in style. I didn’t care for the room I was seated in, however our server, Hannah, was fabulous and super knowledgeable of the menu. The beef tenderloin and short rib melts in your mouth! Wonderfully cooked as well as all the menu options.

Incredible. Some of the best food I’ve ever had, definitely the best steak I’ve ever had. The tomahawk steak and wagyu rolls were among the best. Beautiful atmosphere and design. There are so many beautiful places to be seated, I feel like you could come back many times and get entirely new experiences. I think it’s the best meal of my life.

I had heard about Shoto and was excited to try it. We got dressed up since we heard about the dress code. The service was great from the jump. At times things came slow, I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place if you are in a rush. You have to come to enjoy the whole experience. The nigiri was delicious though I can’t stand when people put shrimp on a nigiri plate. The tacos are one per order and tiny bites packed with flavor. The sweet potatoes were so delicious and I highly recommend. Tofu salad was tasty but so small. Beef skewers were also tasty. Shishito peppers were disappointing, they didn’t even have a sauce. We got two desserts for the double birthday we were celebrating, the churros were ok but the mango panna cotta was amazing. Overall it was a good experience. I do think it’s way over priced and the plates were too small which is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5.

I ordered 3 rolls and king salmon nigiri with truffle. For me, not enough truffle to impact the flavor. I only tasted the smoke from the fish being scorched. One of the rolls was supposed to be tuna belly. As it was presented with another role with tuna in it, I can’t tell you which one was which.

Good sushi but not great. Slightly snotty server but I think she was having a bad day. Great old fashioned. Stunning hip space made it all worth it.

If this review could be 10 star, Shoto would get it. Great, great, great atmosphere, ambiance, food, and service. They pay attention to every detail imaginable. The food was great. From the Lobster tempura, prime rib, lamb chops, sweet potatos, corn with Shashimi butter, and Ciliean Sea Bass; the chef put his foot in every dish. I would never have thought to season sweet potatos with lemon pepper seasoning. Every bite of each dish was outstanding. The DJ was very good, keeping a great vibe throughout the evening. I haven’t stopped telling my friends about this restaurant and the experience I had. I will definitely visit them again. I suggest you give them a try. You will not be disappointed.

The food at Shōtō really is worth the hype. We started with the yellowtail, and wow was it amazing. You must try when you go. The pork belly skewer literally melted in our mouths it was incredible. The beef was cooked to perfection and the miso cod was so so so delicious. I only wish their portion sizes were bigger, I didn’t want to stop eating the cod! Finally, the cheesecake was hands down one of the best we’ve ever had. I don’t know how or what they do to it but it was amazing!
