My taste buds are still jumping for joy after the meal we had this past Saturday afternoon. VERY unassuming place & the reason why you don’t ever judge a book by its cover. I’ve traveled the world & have had authentic cuisine everywhere. Nothing compares to the hand rolled egg rolls here. Amazing flavor & freshness with quality ingredients & spices. Tried two different egg rolls & that alone will bring us back to this special hidden gem. Philly cheesesteak was huge & the homemade bread was the icing on the cake. We were the only diners so we got a chance to talk to the owners & get back stories of their life journey’s & experiences. What a treat! Truly amazing people & food- we can’t wait to return!

This place has amazing Philly cheese stake sandwiches and fries! Huge sandwich and crispy fries. Great flavor on both. The owners were so nice. It’s a hillbilly kind of place for sure, I’ll be back and I’ll take everyone who comes to visit back too! Huge menu selection.

Wish we had known about this place before now! The food was really good, and they offer a lot of different choices. The owners were very nice. The man was so sweet and funny. He made us laugh every time he brought someone’s food out to them. We loved everything about the place. We will definitely be going back. And it’s a great back road trip in the side by side from Fresno. Thank you for a great experience!!

It’s kind of out of the way, but if you’re not doing anything else, I would suggest stopping by. Don’t be in a hurry, usually about an hour, only one cook, and she’s 85. All the food here is homemade. I suggest the egg rolls, and she even bakes her own buns . Don’t expect anything fancy it’s styrofoam and plastic, but they’re doing the best they can . It was very relaxing and we met a lot of other couples. The owners are very friendly outgoing and personable . So, if you want a different experience other than the same old, I suggest you stopping by. And did I mention they only take cash? No cards.

No matter where you are or where you’re going, Shokey’s is probably a bit out of your way, but it’s well worth a detour. My dad and I stopped by for lunch yesterday, on a Saturday afternoon. They weren’t very busy, but the lady who runs the place is very sweet, and her food is amazing. We both got a pulled pork sandwich and an egg roll. Everything is homemade (including even the sandwich buns), everything is really good, and prices are more than reasonable. Probably the best egg roll I’ve ever had, and the BBQ put me in mind of those great little places scattered throughout the South. I can’t wait to go back and try something else, which I will be doing as soon as possible.

What a hidden gem. You would never expect a restaurant out there. The owners are wonderful. Lori, at 85 years old and making her own buns every day, is a wonderful cook, and the hand rolled egg rolls are authentic. Roger is a character that can tell a story with the best of them. Just don’t get him started on the giant people story if you don’t want to laugh. Quite the experience and really good food. Really cheap prices like going back in time to 1980.

We just left there and the food was AMAZING! I had the pulled pork sandwich and my husband had the Philly cheesesteak on homemade bread. Oh my gosh, my husband couldn’t even finish his. Lori and Roger are the owners. Lori is an incredible cook and such a sweet lady. Roger is very friendly. Together they make an awesome team. It’s off the beaten path but so worth it. This will definitely be our go-to restaurant. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.

Drove an hour out of our way to try this place out. First impressions are important and based on ours. We will never go back. The property looked like an abandoned junk yard. The inside of the place was filthy. Everything including the tables and fixtures were either dirty or grease covered. There weee flies everywhere. Couldn’t sit and wait on the food without having 100 landing on your arms and face. Which made me sick to actually be there knowing that there was no way this place could pass an inspection from the health dept. we stayed hoping the good would be worth the negatives. Wow were we wrong. We ordered 4 pork egg rolls. Once they came out and we swatted the flies away both of us took a bite and omg they were absolutely disgusting. We both spit it back out in our hands. We got up threw the food in the trash and left. Cost me $13 and an hour of my time to learn to never come back here again. DO NOT BElIEVE THE REVIEWS. Unless you don’t care about filth and bugs crawling on your food.

If I could give this SIX Stars… I would. The SIXTH star would be for the truly unique experience that surrounds very well prepared and tasty food. Thank you Shokey’s for an original dinner encounter.
