I must admit I was driving around looking for some BBQ brisket. But finding Shirley’s SoulFood was what I needed… The Catfish Collard Greens and Potato Salad was on point. The Lemon Pepper Wings was outstanding. The lemon is strong, but good. Only thing I was missing was some dessert and that’s my fault. Will definitely be back to try the other things on the menu. TWO Thumbs for Shirley and her staff.

If you don’t know about how good this food is….go and see for yourself. I ordered a plate to taste and went back and ordered off the catering menu. It was THE BEST SOUL FOOD ( lol outside of my own) I have ever tasted. Go there….you won’t be disappointed. Try the Collard greens!!!!

I come here all the time – everything taste delicioussssss!!! You can’t go wrong with anything you order including the desserts. Owner is also the chef and she’s very pleasant and will make sure you order and food is great!!!

The service is great. Everyone was nice. I mer the owner she came out and greeted me. The portions are good. I had the “Deep South Sampler” fried chicken, froed fish, and shrimp sides mac n cheese, collard greens, corn bread. My daughter and I sampled the food in the car. Before I drove off i called in an order of fried shrimp dinner for my daughter and a fish sandwich for me. The mango/pineapple drink and the lemonade hit the spot. 8/18/2023 tomorrow Saturday I’m going to try there shrimp and grits.

Food was good, but I have had better. Loved the M&C, yams were great too. If you like your greens on the sweeter side then you will love them. Hush puppies and Cornbread was good too. Cornbread was very small portion. Seems nice and clean in there. Wait was long but not too bad. I’d rather you take your time and do it right anyway. I think for the price of the meals you should get three sides. I tried a soul food restaurant in Monticello the other day and it was 14 dollars for a meal with 3 sides and a big piece of cornbread.

I guess the third time was not the charm. I’ve attempted supporting this new business three times, with each time something different and it’s just not good. Living in Poughkeepsie for 6 years now I was so excited for “soul food” to be so close and convenient but I have been disappointed each time. The prices are pretty high for the amount of food you get. The chicken was bland,the collard greens are sweeter than the yams which left me very confused because I’m certain that is an acquired taste,however the staff is very welcoming and friendly and I would have loved to continue to support but this time the food was just not edible. I hope in the future they will see these reviews and make some revisions to the menu as well as the price point.

I love eating here because the food is so scrumptious and delectable. The cashier with the blonde braids always has a smile on her face and knows the answer to any question you may have. You should really check this place out!!! The chef is very polite and feeds your soul.

I have to be brutally honest, I thought I found a new option for soul food but this is Not it. If you know good soul food you would also agree. I did not try everything because it’s hard for me to go back. The fried chicken needs work without going into detail. It’s edible but not Soul Food good. Collard greens, mac & cheese – not good. Corn was ok, no one can really mess up corn. I was truly disappointed.

Excellent food. We ordered the chicken & waffles along with a side of Mac & cheese! DELICIOUS. Chicken was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. The mac & cheese was sooo good! I can’t wait to order again.
