Shawarma Joint has become my go-to place around Urbana-Champaign. Every location has proven to be wonderful! The service here was efficient and the staff was very polite. I got the lunch special, which included a bowl of food, fries or soup, pita bread, and a drink, ONLY FOR $12.99 (tax not included). Food was delightful with big portions. They had a variety of rices, protein options, toppings, etc., to choose from. Their falafel was the best I’ve ever tried because it was crispy on the outside, and juicy and soft inside. Best hummus ever! It was super creamy and felt homemade. Also, it’s great place to dine in.

Tried a veggie bowl, fries and a soda. The pita was fresh. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the falafel so they put it on the side. All the toppings for super fresh. Large side of fries, very tasty ! The people working there were also very friendly and helpful !

I found this restaurant while visiting a family member at Carle and was looking to venture out from the cafeteria. The food was prepared in a reasonable amount of time. The portions are VERY generous! If you like Mediterranean I highly recommend!!

Finally tried the new, Urbana location on University Ave. Don’t let the box store/fast food aesthetic (it shares a divided bldg w/ a Jimmy John’s) fool or deter you: the food here is delicious, the portions are enormous, and the staff is friendly & helpful. We had one plate and one bowl, both spicy chicken; a small side of baba ghanouj; and some freshly fried falafel. All were delicious (though, again, the portions were huge, so we had plenty of leftovers to take home as well).

I came into Urbana-Champaign for a UIUC visit, and before coming into the city I looked up Halal food in the city. I saw this place and decided to give it a try when I came for my visit. I didn’t know there were 2 locations until I drove around C-U. In any case, the food was good and the workers there were nice. We have Pita Inn up here in the Chicago Land Area, but this was a nice break away from Pita Inn, and there was some uniqueness to the Shawarma wrap and the Shawarma on Chicken that I got. The establishment was clean and the bathrooms were also good. I came at around afternoon, so maybe that’s why it was nicer, since there would be less people. If I do end up going to the University of Illinois, I will for sure be a regular patron here.

Absolutely delicious! I came here for the first time a few days ago and I was so impressed I had to come back. I provided two photos of the bowl I made here. The first is how it comes and the second image I mixed everything in a bit. Very fresh and flavorful food. The portion size is huge and is great value for the price. The place is very clean and the staff are very friendly. If you get the bowl it is almost chipotle style where you chose what you want in the bowl so very customizable and you can build what you like. Thank you very much! Will be returning.
