Shanghai is great and we will be back soon. Service was amazing. We had our 4 and 5 year old with us and the food was delicious so they were happy. Quite affordable for the quality of food. Oh, and get the hot and sour soup over egg drop…soooo good!!!

I had been going to this restaurant for almost two decades. It used to be the best Chinese restaurant anywhere around. Unfortunately I can’t say that anymore. The past couple years the food quality has gone down, primarily my favorite the hot and sour soup and crab rangoon. I gave it many chances but I had to finally take this restaurant off my favorite list. You may like it now, but if you had it 10 years ago you would know how much better it could be. To be more specific the hot and sour soup tasted very peppery and had a lot of grease on the top. Crab rangoon isn’t fried or shaped like it used to be and is now tough to chew. The inside has a hint of pepper which seems very out of place, it is also very creamy instead of fluffy.

I got the vermicelli bowl and it was delicious. We also got the appetizer sampler which was awesome. The server was so attentive and extremely helpful! He knew what we wanted before we even said anything!

All of the dishes look very nice, good customer service. I tried some Vietnamese foods, they do not taste like Vietnamese flavor but they are delicious by their way.

Lighting and ambience checked out and I had an appeal that left me frantically searching for my next meal. I settled on the same meal I get 90% of the time and thought it’d be different or perhaps better. There is duct tape to my right holding the booth tear together, lady filled my water repeatedly which was nice. The hot and sour soup is worth going there for. The table was sticky but we asked for a rag to clean it ourselves. I liked the bathroom. When my wifes meal came it was some sort of saucey mess that tasted like sweet and sour instead of sweet/garlic and spicy. I’m pretty confident there is msg here as I feel funny now. The end

The new owner has cut corners and changed recipes and this is now just no longer what it once was. I’ve tried it a few times and it gets worse each time. Very sad decline for what was once the best in the DSM area.
