There really is a Shane!
Family. Hard work. Darn-good BBQ. That’s what Shane Thompson built his business around. In 2002, Shane ditched his corporate job, tossed his tie and followed a dream with his wife, Stacey. He dusted off his grandfather Big Dad’s secret BBQ recipe and opened up the very first Shack in McDonough, GA.
It wasn’t long before the community noticed how he always gives people more than what they pay for and treats everybody like family.
Oh, and making the best BBQ around helped, too.

Son and I stopped in for Sunday lunch. Everything was great, fresh food, good service. I had bbq chicken over fries, and my son had the same but buffalo style (pics below). Peach cobbler was warm and so good. Can I ask that maybe you carry vanilla ice cream for the top of the cobbler? Place was a spotless, very relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend

I had the Sampler plate – the pulled pork and Rib were good but cold. The chicken tenders were tiny. The baked beans and potato salad were really good. The mac and cheese was nasty to me but my daughter liked it. She loved the smoked wings. The peach cobbler was delicious. They were short staffed but worked hard to deal with the crowd.

Me and my husband went here last night it was delicious! Best mac and cheese I ever had. Only complaints the ribs weren’t tender and was cold. Really enjoyed the pork don’t recommend the tenders either not my cup of tea. Also the fries were super salty, couldn’t eat them. Majority of food was delicious though so I’ll give 5 stars husband enjoyed his food as well.

We were greeted with friendly service. The environment was clean, loved the decor and floor design. The menu is affordable. The food is decent, but the peach cobbler we ordered was mediocre and lacking ice cream. My only complaint would be the using of powerful chemicals to clean rest rooms while customers were dining. The smell of the chemicals overpowered the smell of the food I was eating.

Ordered BBQ sandwich and meat was at best room temperature and came with about 1/2 teaspoon of coleslaw on it. 1 out of 5 enjoyed their food. Understand why so few people were dining.

The girl that took our order was in such a hurry to take our order and be done with us. She spoke really low and it sounded like she was talking so fast that her words were slurring together. When she wasn’t taking peoples orders she stood there with her arms crossed. No one there was friendly at all. As we walked over to get our drinks and then to a table, I kept slipping on the greasy floor. You have to wear no skid shoes in here in order to walk safely. We then sat down at the table and the whole thing felt sticky. I don’t think it was food. It’s more like they’re using some kind of cleaner on the tables that’s messing up the stain. Almost everything was room temperature; the pulled pork, the Mac n cheese, the baked beans and the french fries. The hush puppies were burning hot. The hush puppies and pulled pork were good. Everything else was below average. Likely won’t go back.
