First time eating here. Called in a pickup order. Cheeseburger, chicken tenders, fries, and hushpuppies were all good, but the hamburger steak was just an overcooked, dry burger with no gravy. I was shocked when I opened the to-go tray. Who would serve such a thing? Who would want it? Also, just a head’s up, the prices were quite a bit higher than the menu online, and they no longer serve ice cream or shakes. For the three of us, it was $44, without any drinks. Wasn’t worth it, in my opinion.

Terrible place for customer service. My husband ordered baked chicken. His food arrived with baked ham. Server took it back and came back with ham. Explained that they ran out of chicken and served him that instead. Told cashier she took 2$ off price for the ham dinner. So we paid 12$ for rice and beans a small slice of pie. We will not be back!!!

Food a 0 star, Service a 0 star, and the Atmosphere a 0 star. We’ve stopped here many times in the evening on our way back from Charleston over the 4 years for dinner. The food has always been good, but the service well has a lot to be desired unless you’re a local, or that’s how it seems to me and my wife. The fact that we’re an interracial couple seems to add fuel to the fire. No one bothered to speak to us except the waitress, and she acted uncomfortable when she came to the table. I had biscuits and gravy, which was old and cold. My wife had chucked potatoes that were burnt, and nothing was seasoned. I was truly excited about trying breakfast at the Shady Rest, but this may have been my last time coming into your place of business. I’m not saying this business has color or racial issues. I’m just saying they sure make you feel that way. OH PS The worst breakfast I’ve had in a very, very long time! Could I say more? Yes, but I won’t treat people the way you would want to be treated, and if you look in the plate and would not eat it, don’t serve. Enough Said! I can’t add a 0 rating, so I’ll say 1.

Not a place I’ll ever go back into. Order baked chicken and they bring ham. I told the server, this doesn’t look like chicken so he carried it to the kitchen only to bring it back and tell me they are out of chicken. Right now I really can’t eat ham and wasn’t offered anything instead of ham. When I left all the ham was still on the plate, untouched. Det Aunt be back.

Out in the middle of nowhere like an oasis in the desert, this delightful Diner was a welcome surprise. Fantastic breakfast with pancakes that would make St. Alfonso proud, crisp bacon, eggs and coffee. Excellent service, and the Chicken & Ribs lunch menu made me wish I could come back sooner. This Diner is going in our notebook for sure!! If you find yourself on SC route 41, don’t pass this one by!!

I called to place an order approxmently at 7:50 and was on hold until 830 then I arrived to place my order in person I was told there would be a wait of 45 mins well I came back in 25 mins surely deep frying chicken wings and a salad should be about ready as I walked in I saw the people who was coming in as I was leaving when I had placed my order had there food so I figured it must be ready it was another 25 minutes before I got my food I asked for a refund but they claimed they where boxing it up then the cashier was externally rude and kept rolling her eyes and just kept making mad gestures it’s just not the same as it use to be when I use to go with mr Marvin idk if it has changed hands since but not how I remember this place
