We stopped by settler last night hoping to grab a seat at the bar, by the time we decided to go out to dinner it was a bit late to make a reservation. Bar is on first come seating. We live down the street from it but this was our first time in since living in Salem, small space and good atmosphere it might be a bit loud for some people but I like a lively place. I’ve tried my fair share of good places but I was pleasantly surprised with settler and the amazing food that came out of the kitchen compared to many places in Salem that we’ve gone and not enjoyed, reason why we hadn’t rushed to try it perhaps. We started with delicious cocktails, a chef Meze for two, homemade bread, and some lovely clams with chorizo which lasted barely a minute because they were that good! For mains we shared the chitarra lobster pasta & the pork chop which is a la carte and for a side we ordered the farm mixed greens everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. There’s always room for dessert even though we were stuffed we had a scoop of pistachio gelato & homemade mini Madeline’s. Last but not least the service was great and friendly, very personable and even though we didn’t get his name the bartender was awesome and great to talk to. We hope to make it back in more often. Thank you to the chef and all the staff for a lovely late night dinner!

The food here is so delicious. We had the charred octopus starter that had the tenderest octopus I’ve ever eaten. The spaghetti alla chitarra had some tasty shrimp and a nice calabrian spicy sauce. The Amish Green Circle Chicken had a moist and flavorful cut of meat. We also had (not pictured) the whipped ricotta starter, but definitely needed more bread for the amount of cheese we wanted to scoop out of the bowl. I ordered a bourbon based cocktail, that while a little pricey, came with a fun smokey presentation when brought to the table. Slices of bread made from a 55 year old sourdough starter were being passed around as well. And finally they brought us some complimentary olive oil cake bites because we were too full to devour an entire dessert. We can’t wait to make it back.

After reading/hearing all of the hype for this place, I was severely disappointed with the food from here. To preface, I love good food, I love cooking. I’ve visited a lot of fine-dining restaurants in my lifetime and though they’re expensive, I find the food is usually so good it’s worth it. The food I had from here was no where near worth the price, and this was the most disappointed I’ve ever been with food from a nicer restaurant.

Been hearing a lot of good things about this place and it definitely exceeded my expectations. It’s tiny in there but it’s a total vibe. Atmosphere, Service and Food is Top of the Line. Everyone working in there is super friendly to the point that even the people who are not serving still come up to check on you. The food is really something else, just a ton of flavors in your mouth.

Excellent food and drinks, and the service is amazing. A friend and I must have tried half the menu. The homemade sourdough bread with a 52 year old starter gifted from Chef Daniel Boulud is the best sourdough I’ve ever tasted. The whipped ricotta is a must. The halibut was perfectly cooked, and the cheesecake was one of the best desserts I’ve ever eaten!

Settler is the best restaurant on the North Shore. We had an incredible experience. It was absolutely gorgeous inside, and the lighting was perfect. I knew the service was going to be top notch when our server brought us tiny jars of lavender lemonade to cleanse our palates when we first sat down! The wine list was top notch, and our sever knew everything about the wines and where they came from. They weren’t just typical wines – we could tell they had been picked by an expert. And they paired exceptionally well with our dinner! The food was incredible! The Muhammara dip was fantastic – the spices were so fresh. We also loved the burrata! It had peaches and prosciutto that were incredible on top of our grilled sourdough bread. The texture of the hummus was so rich, and the lamb added a perfect flavor to the dish. We also ordered the pasta and pork chops – both perfect in taste and presentation. I can’t recommend enough! We had the dreamiest evening! Truly a gem of the North Shore.
