We came here for my birthday, the crab dip was 18$ and came with like 7 pieces of naan. It was clear they wanted you to ask for more, which on our bill was an extra 4$. The filet was amazing, the salad was nice and lite, but the seafood scampi no longer comes with lobster, it just has shrimp, scallops, & some clam meat. We had a nice experience, but the boat tours drop people off rt in the middle of where you eat and I mean it is a hotel so a lot of obnoxious around us. The birthday went un announced by staff so to me that was a relief but my wife wasn’t thrilled. We even paid for cheesecake to sit by the fire but we sat and sat and sat and no one turned it in for us. We are headed somewhere else to continue our night. The welcoming vibe we got when we got here did not continue through their busy hours. 2 stars for atmosphere but the food wasn’t half bad just ridiculously expensive for what it was so 3 stars for food. There are better places to eat in Clayton but the view is to die for.

This was our first visit. We were seated outside by the river which was the best part of our experience. The services was very depressing. The staff just didn’t seem happy to be there. No expressions. The food was extremely disappointing for the prices you pay. The shrimp was over cooked and dried out. The ribeye was cooked perfect however zero flavor where you needed lots of pepper and salt to even eat it. For 3 people our bill was close to $300. After leaving we went to the local pizza shop and grabbed a $15.00 pizza we enjoyed better.

My wife and I were staying at the hotel and decided to stop in at the restaurant after viewing the menu in our room. Before heading out on our vacation, I had seen the 3.5 average review and was skeptical, but decided to start with breakfast before leaving on a boat tour for the day. Our breakfast was delicious, served well by the staff, and based on that 5 star experience, we came back that evening for dinner after being out all day. We had eaten at another establishment up the road in Alexandria Bay the night before that had a higher 4.3 star rating, which was fine, maybe a 4 star from me. Tonight’s meal at the Seaway was much better, just as our breakfast had been. Again, the food was spectacular, the wait staff very quick, diligent, and friendly, and the ambiance in the dining room is wonderful. We had two completely different meals (Seafood Scampi for me, and Herb Grilled Chicken for my wife) and both thought they were both phenomenal.

Highly disappointed with both my meal and my wife’s.

This was our first visit to this establishment. We sat at the bar and had dinner. Luca was our bartender and he was attentive and personable. My husband had the porter house pork chop with apple chutney and a corn and crab chowder as a starter. I had the chicken quesadilla. Everything was delicious. We also were given a bread and cracker basket as well as 2 chocolate covered cherries to finish our meal.

I feel like this restaurant is very underrated. During our stay at the hotel we dined here on a Tuesday evening. We were able to call ahead at about 4:30pm and get reservations for outdoor dining at 6:30pm without any issues. Sitting under the pergola offered great views. The service was great and the best we received in all of the Thousand Island area.

I do not get the amount of backlash for this place. Maybe it has to do with only getting breakfast, but I thought it was pretty decent. The pancakes and omelets are pretty good. So are the toast and potatoes. The only thing I knock on is the lack of removing food from the rooms in a timely manner when you get room service. But that issue is kind of separate from the place itself.

The service was excellent and the meal was really good. The bread, the filet mignon was great. My critiques would be to add a garnish to your ginger carrot soup. It tastes good, but it needs a pop of color and texture. The “lava cake” wasn’t a lava cake. A lava cake is supposed to pour our liquid chocolate when you cut into it. There’s had zero filling and zero liquid chocolate. It was honestly just a chocolate cake. So the dessert was disappointing.

It’s really hard to mess up pancakes but– what can I say? These were probably the worst pancakes I’ve ever ordered. Without a lot of choices close to the hotel, I decided to throw caution to the wind and ignore the many negative reviews. A little after 9:00am we ordered three orders of pancakes and one order of a single waffle. The person who took the order was not particularly friendly. We were off on the wrong foot immediately when I used the in-room menu to place my order. She told me they simplified the menu two weeks ago and are no longer offering many of the items listed there. How are guests to know? Breakfast arrived with small condiment cups of a margarine-type product, something resembling maple syrup and a small bowl of sliced strawberries and blueberries. One of the pancake orders had pancakes so raw the batter was wet in the middle. Overall they were thin (closer to crepe than a fluffy pancake) and flavorless save the greasy griddle aroma. The waffle seemed like a better option but was so small (for $12) that I’m not sure it would even have filled my 6-year-old. After the guests in our second room woke up, they called to order breakfast only to be told that they could no longer get anything. Mind you the in-room book says breakfast is served until at least 11am. We called just a few minutes after 10am. When I called downstairs to check with guest services they told me that my in-room guide should have been changed but breakfast is served until 10:30am. Without an apology or hesitation they transferred me back to the Seaway Grille. Of course, no one picked up and eventually it went to a recorded message. I’m not sure if it was such a hardship that my other guests didn’t get breakfast that morning. I don’t normally write a bad review but the Seaway Grille really deserves it. Honestly, the food is below hospital quality. The lack of courtesy was appalling. If you want to be treated like you’re doing them a favor by ordering a $12 waffle or pancake before 10am then by all means go ahead. Not even the fancy silent “e” on “Grille” can disguise this as anything more than sub par cafeteria food.

Great dinner while staying at the hotel. Definitely will be returning! We had the porter house and the filet. Slightly hesitant at first while reading the other reviews but everything was great. 🙂
