I initially walked into the main library which this location is attached to and asked for recommendations of food. They mentioned a place that was attached that had affordable food and that was their first recommendation. When asked about the Scottish Thistle the major point was that this place doesn’t even list their prices online. We actually spend a minute looking online and on their Fb before I went. No luck. After further searching and reading other reviews this is the theme, no clear pricing on food, or drinks. I took the elevator to the side door and sat at the bar. It took about 10 minutes for someone to even notice me sitting there. The place was pretty empty for close to 5pm. I could have easily sat down and left and no one would notice. There was a table or two leaving as I arrived and I actually saw staff walking through the other room and while I was looking towards them they never looked towards me to acknowledge me there. Eventually I was noticed and ordered the Scotch eggs, and the Cornish hen. While the menu said the Cornish hen would take 25 minutes to arrive it actually took about 17 minutes. The scotch eggs did arrive quickly but unfortunately they were the best thing about the experience. Ordering the Cornish hen they were served with mash potatoes and I asked what other sides I could get such as fresh veg. The server said veg wasn’t an option and there was no other sides offered. As you will see in the photo attached when it came out the server was surprised that it came with a mixed veg blend… and so was I. It did look familiar though and after tasting it I realized I was being served a mix veg steamer bag from green giant. Normally i wouldn’t recognize this kind of thing but the blend was very familiar.

A nice touch in a small town. Fun decor and music. The food was really good could have used pepper but that was my fault they had salt and pepper shakers used it at the end the flavor was really good the vegetables had a really good flavor .

Hot delicious food, lovely dining room and bar with high ceilings and rich architecture. Bangers and mash my Scottish family would have loved. Jamesons Margarita tasty.

Working from out of state. Had lunch and the next day dinner. Friendly staff. Great beer selection. Food was pretty good. For lunch I had the Scottish Eggs for an appetizer; they were excellent and I never had this dish before. Then followed by a Fried Green Tomato BLT. The need a spicier batter for the tomato and a tad bit more bacon, but it was good and fries were cooked to perfection.

Definitely would go back! So many yummy things to try. Lost track of time during dinner so was running late for our movie. ( our fault not the restaurant’s) so I don’t have a picture of our sandwiches. Everything we had was great. We had the calamari sticks and Smoked Gouda for appetizers. Our drinks were the Drunken Leprechaun and a Guinness. I had the salmon BLT sandwich with the up grade of fried green tomatoes and he had the Codd sandwich. Our waitress was very helpful. Their online menu and the actual menu was a bit different. More selection with the real menu. Also my drink had cherries with it but husband ate them before picture lol. Hopefully can go back soon. Want to try the shroom burg next

First time visiting on a Saturday evening. Had a table immediately, staff was pleasant, Carl did a fine job. Restaurant is in downtown Piqua so there is plenty of parking, nice area. Food was good, but they were out of Cornish hens and fried pickles, which eliminated my first two dinner choices. The shepherds pie is smaller than we were expecting for the price. Fries are excellent. Specialty drinks really should have their prices marked on the menu. Overall a nice time, will give them a second chance.

Food was really good, service was great. A little let down at the lunch menu. Dinner menu looks great. I tried the bangers and mash at Taste of the Arts in Piquas down town and was hoping I could get a lunch portion of it. I am definitely going to come back!

Four of us came in on Saturday and three of us had the Thistle Burger. Yummy! The other had fish & chips which looked really good. We split a couple pieces of chocolate banana marble cake, which was dry and just so so. Thanks too Barbara for running around by herself, we were there just after 4pm., and she had a steady stream of people coming in until the other troops arrived. We’ll be back for sure. Also, I didn’t see Haggis on the menu, lol…

The beer cheese tasted a bit TOO beer-y for our liking and don’t expect a cheap meal. Besides that, the dishes were all amazing. The salmon and shepherd’s pie were both to die for. The staff was friendly and the food was served fairly quickly. We also had a lovely window seat. We’ll be back to try more!
