This is a beautiful cozy restaurant, along a quaint yet sometimes busy Street in Noe Valley. Upon entering and waiting for the host you can choose to sit outside where there are heat lamps that actually work and provide an enjoyable experience even on a foggy, overcast day. Inside there is a chef’s table and a few tables, I would say that a group of six would have a bit of a hard time so I would say Max 4. I had the five piece sashimi omakase and I was impressed for it being $30. I also tried the Mina Hakata scallop, which was absolutely melting in my mouth, sweet rich, tasty filleted scallop nigiri.

Excellent sushi place in Noe Valley, in SF. Great selection, from New Zealand to Japan. Quality is amazing, from food to service. The rice is served at the right temperature, which is rare around here.

It’s not that the food is bad, but it is incredibly overpriced. You can get equally good, if not better, at pretty much any other local sushi spot for about half or even a third of the price.

Lead by Chef Billy who got trained in Kyoto and Kanazawa with Japanese government’s invitation, Saru offers no frill but high quality Sushi with reasonable price for many years, and it’s one of the most loved Sushi place by locals. They also have a good variety of Izakaya menu and the place is family friendly. It is often hard to book so take out is another recommendation.

One of the freshest sushi bar in town – if you’re around here (or not), you have to stop by. Their prices are reasonable and you’re absolutely in for a treat.

Very impressed with omakase. Intimate venue and very legit and friendly staff. I love that it feels like a tucked away yet very high quality sushi bar in now. Will definitely be back.

First of all, the white out roll and spider roll were delicious. I’d go back for those. But the sashimi taster was meager for the price, pumped up with lots of shells and flowers and grated daikon that frankly, I couldn’t even see very well in the dim light. The sashimi was OK tasting but I could see in the counter not all the fish was all that fresh looking and a lot of it was pre-sliced. But the thing that knocked the rating down a star for me was the wait staff hovering around and eagerly whisking away every dish. I could swear I had another sip of soup left and then it was gone. If you go, stick with the rolls.

Best sushi in SF, no question. Come, put your name in, expect a 30-60 min wait, go get a drink somewhere else, and come back. Don’t miss the nigiri. You will not get sushi this good anywhere except Japan.
