We were the only ones there but it was great. Need to get awareness up so more people can experience the deliciousness. Everyone that tried the macaroni and cheese said it was the best they’ve ever had. The honey butter was awesome. If the rolls had been better we’d give 5 Stars!

Sweet Tea is on the menu. The waiter was the best waiter, great with kids. Great BBQ w/ hickory sauce and the hamburger steak was just as great. They served an actual salad with all the veggies that should be in a salad and it was fresh. For an appetizer we enjoyed the Fried pickles and the families favorite cheese fries with brisket which was amazing. The rolls with butter/cinnamon was enough to call desert. Thank you guys for a great meal, keep it up! Texas☆

Gave this place a try tonight and I’m glad we did! The server Benjamin was so friendly and kind to us. The food looked amazing when it came out and tasted awesome. They have a bunch of sauces you can try and they have sweet tea. Definitely a great spot in Clayton.

This place is a no frills BBQ joint with a lovely southwest charm but what they do they do very, very well. If you are looking for a family friendly meal with excellent food, great atmosphere and friendly waitstaff then Santa Fe Trail Cafe should be a scheduled stop on your road trip. The locals here have a real gem on there hands. Serving from 630am to 9pm this should be your destination! Be sure to ask for the warm rolls with cinnamon butter, and good luck picking up the baby back ribs… every bone came away clean!

Benjamin was an amazing server! Made it a very personable experience. He recommended dishes when we asked and when we asked if we could mix between the pork and brisket tacos he was more than accommodating (we ended up just getting brisket tacos). I had the brisket sandwich and it was all that I hoped for after a long day of work.

Passing through Clayton and stopped for lunch. The restaurant was very clean. Had the pulled pork sandwich with french fries, it was delicious. They had a selection of sauces, I tried their homemade original, it was very good. While I was there the people at an adjacent table had a number of requests to modify some of the menu items, the waitress checked with the kitchen and came back, said everything that they had requested could be done. When the food was brought to the table the chief came out to make sure that everything was prepared to their satisfaction. They seemed very happy with the food and the extra effort the staff went through to have everything prepared to their specs.

The wait staff are well groomed clean giving prompt nice and helpful service. The nachos are my favorite. The meatloaf and mashed potatoes were very good. The chicken fried steak last night was a very good one. The salad was deep green with raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Excellent. The omelette smother in melted cheese with hash browns biscuits and cream gravy and patty sausage was as good as it gets. The coffee was very good for restaurant coffee. These hard working restauranteurs are doing it right!!!!!

Ribs with sauce were very good. Very tender and great taste. A little more smoke would give this a 5 star. Coleslaw was excellent. Will order from here again and they do have carryout. Good job to the owners and staff.

Melvin is a true gem at this restaurant! The barbecue really impressed us and we’ve had a lot of barbecue! The portions were huge and Melvin (the cook) made sure we were compensated (with extra good portions) when he had to break the news to us that they had no ribs. Worth a stop if you’re passing through.
