THE GREATEST PLACE IN THE FINGER LAKES TO CRACK OPEN A BEER.
A longtime local institution, the Sand Bar originally opened in 1994. We preserved the character that made it the legend it is while updating the menu with an extensive beer and wine selection, fresh cocktails, and simple yet perfect bar staples like crisp golden fries. It’s the casual hangout spot you crave after a long day on the lake. Pull up a chair under the famous hanging boat and let us take care of you.

Amazing food, drinks and atmosphere. Probably the best margarita I’ve ever had. Reason for 4 stars: I went to the bar twice and was not acknowledged for over ten minutes each time. They were not busy, but when they were done getting drinks for other patrons (including people who got there after me) both bartenders avoided eye contact and began cleaning their glasses/garnishes. I had to say excuse me 3 times before I was approached. Hard to explain, but it was very uncomfortable.

Call ahead for reservations for guaranteed seating. The atmosphere is beautiful. Service is good. Food is delicious. We tried the wings, grilled chicken sandwich, impossible burger, & almond cake dessert. I had a coconut margarita. It was delicious. Definitely coming back.

Overall our experience was great. The food is a little expensive but that’s somewhat standard here in the Finger Lakes. Everything we had was great, and the service at the table was really good. The only real negative was that we had a reservation for 5 and they put us at a 4 top with an extra chair. Normally I wouldn’t care enough about this to mention, but immediately before we were seated they put a party of 4 at a 6 top. Again mildly frustrating but not nearly enough for me not to recommend them, and I certainly plan to give it another shot next time I’m in the area.

Lovely spot for a drink. We didn’t have anything to eat but menu looked solid.

Went in with a group of three and we all had very high expectations based on the way locals and other people talked about the restaurant. Unfortunately, we were most disappointed in the food. I am usually not picky and eat anything and I don’t mind dry chicken, however the chicken cutlet was so dry you could barely cut it. The fish fry was decent, but the Cole slaw was basically just straight cabbage and made my fries and fish soggy. The scenery was nice, the staff was friendly, and our server Marianna was very kind and helpful and made our experience better. The drinks were alright, but overall I would not return.

I went to the Sand Bar for the first time over the weekend and made reservations for my friend’s birthday. While the atmosphere was beautiful, we were disappointed by the service. We had to wait for a table, despite having reservations. Our server then forgot to put in our appetizer order and did not put in my request to eliminate something from the entree item that I asked for. We were grateful to have a beautiful view of the water, but they seemed to be short-staffed or over worked since we were not well attended to.

Frankly I was appalled enough to write a review- something I’ve never done for a restaurant.

My wife and I visited the sandbar restaurant while we were staying at the lake house hotel this past week. It was nice that we got chips and pico included. As seems to be the case with many restaurants in upstate New York, this is Pepsi country, so one is not able to order a Coke. The food offerings were good; the salad was average at best, really nothing special and was seven dollars for a side salad. The lobster roll came with plenty of lobster meat and tasted wonderful. The french fries were not anything to write home about. For a pricey restaurant one might expect the french fries to not be stale. The lobster risotto had a good amount of lobster, but did lack creaminess. I did like the zoodles and basil pesto that topped the risotto, and while a strange combo, it worked.

I was surprised that a reservation was asked about on arrival at 2 pm on a Friday. We were seated about 10 min later. Lobster roll was excellent. Prices definitely reflect the lake front location, but it was beautiful. 2 people was $100 with a couple of cocktails.
