This place is off the hook. If in Balboa please visit. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Can’t say enough about this place. A hidden gem.

The worse sushi place we’ve ever been. We love Japanese restaurants and we know what good sushi, rolls and sashimi are. The taste of the rolls was like you bought them in the grocery store, and ridiculously small portions. Sushi were small and didn’t taste good at all. We think, it was a waste of our money and time. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you want a good Japanese food go to Gen Kai.

Very good food and service here. Quality of everything from the table setting to the sushi that was prepared was top notch. We left there very content with our choice for dinner and will return.

A quaint sushi “bar” in Newport. They are very welcoming as all the staff greet you as you walk in. The short time I was sitting at the sushi bar…It was very apparent that this was a neighborhood restaurant that the locals love and frequent often.

A little place tucked away in the balboa island. The sushi is super fresh and the chefs know what they are doing. They make good conversation while preparing your meal and it’s a complete dining experience! Some places have great sushi, while others have great service, this place is the best of both! A must try!

I made a reservation online a month in advance for two. It was fairly easy, but be aware of the additional $2+ fee. On our way to the restaurant the day of, we were involved in a serious car accident and would not have made it to our reservation in time. We were well aware of no refund policy for reservations canceled within 24 hours. I tried to cancel the reservation and ask for a refund due to unforeseen circumstances, but they were not accommodating. I would NOT recommend this place, especially if you’re making reservation.

Best sushi I have ever had. It was art on a plate, and I am excited to go back, words could not describe how good it was. The service and food were perfect!

I did the omakase which consisted of 6 courses + the dessert. Quality of the food here is absolutely great! Very fresh ingredients and its very obvious how each dish is made with care. The presentation of the food is nice too.

Had the omakase and it was phenomenal. Our waitress, Tina was attentive and amazing. Had our hot tea refilled multiple times. My fiance who usually does not order sushi thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The plum tofu was a great starter. Everything was pleasantly surprising. Could not have asked for a better meal. I would definitely recommend this restuarant and would come back regularly if I lived in the area.

Went to nana san but the wait was too long so we decided to try this place and I am so glad that we did. Must order: agedashi tofu (this blew me away and it was only $3.50), bluefin tuna sushi (I’ve never had amazing tuna outside of Japan so this was a first), yellowtail sushi, salmon/salmon belly sushi, freshwater eel (same as what you get at any sushi restaurant but I love this so I’ll put it here anyway), striped jack (mackerel family), soft shell crab roll and of course, fatty tuna sushi. I tried a bunch of other sushi/rolls (crunchy roll, golden eye snapper, etc.) but these are the ones I would order when I go back. Also, a tip: be friendly with the sushi chef as they tell you if you need to put soysauce or not on your sushi and I feel that it enhances the dining experience. I will definitely come back when I have a other special occasion.
