The beans were very under cooked. The meat was dry and barely warm. Regular portions for sides but small portions for protein. Twenty dollars for lunch with a drink, not bad for barbecue. Very underwhelming overall. Unfortunate because this used to be a good go to place for lunch.

Great and lots of choices. The brisket was heaven and the fried okra was sooo yummy. The place is really cute.

My first time in Dallas, and I decided to go to Sammy’s for bbq. It was telling that the place was empty when I got there a few minutes after open. The barbecue itself was okay – I had brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, and pork ribs. Meat was tender and sauce was nicely sweet and slightly smokey. BUT the meat was taken out of a warmer and had been wrapped in plastic wrap? which visually was not the most appealing.

Delicious brisket sandwich. Ribs that are so tender the meat falls right off the bone. And delicious BBQ sauce. Excellent service from staff & very reasonable prices.

Wow! Fantastic Texas barbecue with all the trimmings. We have been eating at Sammy’s for longer than we can remember. But we moved out of town and don’t get to come here as often. We came for lunch today and it was amazing. My wife had the brisket and I had the turkey and both were perfectly smoked, tender and very flavorful. But the sides are out of this world as well. Great french fries and onion rings, both of which are prepared fresh when you order. They have homemade fried okra, coleslaw, and it goes on and on. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is in a great, rustic, Texas themed setting. It’s in the heart of uptown, and easy to get to from anywhere. I know this sounds like an ad but it’s just that it’s so good I want other people to discover it as well!!

Was in town for an Insurance business meeting and had lunch here. Excellent food and service. Went back right before my flight back home and packed my food to make sure it would not spill on the plane. Make sure you try this place when in Dallas!

I’m not from Dallas nor work much in Dallas but I was driving back to a training just looking for a place to eat. I saw Sammy’s and thought I’d give it a try. I am glad I did. Very cool atmosphere. They are very pro law enforcement. Very friendly. I got a sliced brisket sandwich. Finally, I find a BBQ place that leaves more fat on their brisket. It was very flavorful and tender. Next time I’m in Dallas, I’ll definitely come back.

Had the ribs, sausage, and beans. Everything was okay but nothing was exceptional. Sauce was ketchupy without much bite. Meats didn’t have much of a smoky flavor. Friendly service on the food line and pleasant settings both inside and out.
