What an incredible meal. It was about more than the food. The wait staff were smiling the entire time, which post-covid is simply unheard of. Our waiter, Sammy’s son, (who’s name I never did catch) was exceptional. Laser focus in the kitchen, friendly face entering the dining area. He knew every guest entering, and was light on his quick feet throughout the dinner service. His knowledge of the menu was full, and his demeanor said ‘welcome’. No detail was overlooked. As for the food itself-its one of very few times my husband and self have left a meal satiated. Not stuffed to the brim, not longing for a tad more, not sitting to the left, but absolutely right. Seasoned to perfection, flavors dancing in cohesion, textured appropriately, and portions exact. There was not a single sour note to the night.

Sammy’s is authentic Italian at its best. Directly across the street from the capitol and with parking right around the corner, Sammy’s delivers excellent food, small table atmosphere, and a view directly to the kitchen. Rotating specials keep things fresh and it is byob so you save some money on drinks. The food is expensive, but at the very least, you absolutely get what you pay for.

This is a favorite place to take my family. The food is fresh, flavorful and beautifully plated. We love to sit outside in the summer, have a glass of wine (byob) and enjoy a quality dinner together. The atmosphere is charming and fun. The pesto is delicious, and you can’t go wrong with any of the steak dishes. The real star of the show is Sammy!

Our party of four enjoyed our meal immensely. It had been since prior to the pandemic that we had eaten here, and was reminded how good the dining experience is/remains. Staff and food were excellent, and with recent inflation BYOB makes having good wine with dinner affordable.

Felt very much like I was back in Italy! BYOB cozy family owned restaurant. Service was excellent, food prepared perfectly to order and quickly. Delicious lobster ravioli appetizer with amazing sauce. Ordered the ribeye and shrimp special. Steak was cooked just right! The chicken florence with pasta in a lemon sauce was so fresh. Beautiful view of the capital building. Will definitely come back as we were too full to try desserts and recommend to anyone in the area.
