The pizza was great. The sauce was more tomato tasting than I prefer, but it was a nice thick texture. The crust was chewy and tasty. We had a taco and a Sam & Louies. The taco chips were crunched to a fine texture. They stayed on the slice and didn’t poke out all over.

I enjoyed this place with it’s old Italian pizzeria theme. The only knock I have on it is it’s a little expensive compared to some other pizza joints. We were feeding 6 people & got a 16″ plain pepperoni, a 12″ T-Rex, & a 12″ Sam & Louie’s Best along with bread sticks & cheese bread. All the food was very good & the server was friendly. They also have a good selection of beer even served Ruthie which is a local favorite.

Would have gotten 5 starts but the kitchen help is less then desirable. Took them forever to get my appetizers right and then they messed up my pizza order so it was delayed. Now the waitress was awesome and very friendly and the manager gave us extra wings for the delay which was great. The food was very good and prepared perfectly and the other staff was very friendly and helpful as well. Will definitely eat here and I recommend it!

Unlike prior visits a couple of issues tonight. Salad limp had to send back. Some of the onion rings were burnt. Pizza undercooked had to send back. Was given coupons for future visit for the trouble.

One of the worst pizza places in Des Moines. Our pizza had raw dough on it; it was hot, but it was greatly undercooked. The pizza flopped around like a wet noodle. The inside is nice with a good atmosphere, but I am paying for the pizza.

Would have been 5 stars but for two days in a row as soon as this woman answered the phone she’d put me on hold and never come back. Finally some Spanish man answered and took my order. I expected them to be packed since she didn’t have time to answer the phone,, but nope, just one other guest besides me.

I love eating at Sam and Louie’s. We are always greeted with a warm welcome and promptly waited on by the staff. There kids menu is a nice touch and they love it too. The last time we went here we ordered ahead of time because we had my daughter who has autism and gets anxious when she has to wait for pizza, they told us a time, we got there, and it was hot and ready! The waiter was extremely nice and even got my daughter laughing. Will definitely return.

I ordered food from this place through door dash. I ordered the macaroni and cheese with grilled chicken and the fried meat ravioli. The macaroni and cheese was dry didn’t have much cheese on it and didn’t have much of any seasoning on it. I was quite disappointed, I was expecting creamy and full of flavor. On the other hand the grilled chicken was juicy and tasty. The fried meat ravioli had a crunchy tasty outer layer but the inside of the ravioli was diappointing. It was dry and had no sauce in it was surprising to me because raviolis usually have red sauce with it. Over all the food was mediocre and I don’t recommend ordering these items.
