First time visiting Salty Oak and won’t be our last. The food was delicious and the portions were big. Their prices were reasonable and it’s a little hidden gem their service was great and a nice experience. Definitely will visit again when we are down in Corpus Christi. Cheers to amazing food!!

Went for lunch about 1:00. There were several tables seated but not packed. It looked as though they had only one server working and she was very busy. We were never asked for refills on our water until we were ready to leave. When we were ready it took longer for us to get the bill and pay it than it took for us to actually eat the meal. I ordered the chopped beef sandwich, it was tasty but they really skimped on the meat, I doubt there was even 4 ounces of BBQ on it. My wife got the Loaded Brisket French Fries and they were excellent. We have been here many times and their food is great, and we will be back, but I hope they get their staffing fixed because on this day the service stunk.

We stopped in for lunch. I had the loaded brisket french fries. They had cheese sauce and brisket , they come with beans on them , I got mine on the side and gave them to my husband , I thought they were very bland. The French fries were very good, as was the cheese sauce ( nice and creamy), and the brisket is always delicious . I brought half home , these could easily be split between 2 people , and if you are a big eater , add a side. Here is my question ?, it took a long time to get our food, and it was not that crowded , I did see only our server for a long time , and then another one just came out in dining room , not sure where she was the 30 minutes before , she did not come in the front for her shift , so maybe at lunch? I don’t know why food took a long time , even with 1 server . Shouldn’t it all be made already?The meat for sure is done , and the cheese sauce and sides are done . The only thing was my French fries, and how long does it take to drop fries? Our server was nice , but I had to ask several times for promised Bar-B-Q sauce and salt and pepper . She would fly by but never offered any water till the end of the meal , when we were ready to leave. It took so long to get our check after we asked for it , it was bordering on ridiculous. I went out to the car, and it still took a long t ime before my husband came out. They have good food , but with higher prices and longer wait time , it is not on my list to go back soon.

I have been to many of the top 50 bbq joints in Texas based on the rankings in Texas Monthly and I know that Salty Oak is not on their watch list, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t good bbq. I have enjoyed several good meals at Salty Oak and they were very tasty and filling. The meats were pretty tasty and tender.

The food was average and good. Loved the atmosphere. The potato salad was delicious. The pina colada was super delicious. We rated a 3 because my hubby ordered a 3 meat plate and the 3rd portion was less than my 2 meat plate. The explanation we received was because the more you order the less you get. For the price, it would have been better to get the 2 meat plate.

On a whim, I pulled in and was pleasantly surprised. I always observe and rate not just my server, but the entire staff. Mia was my server and was as attentive and polite as anyone I’ve met in Corpus. I was never without anything. The rest of the staff, as I observed, were just as efficient. Always smiling and touching every table to make sure every customer was taken care of. Finally, they were always busy. The place wasn’t busy at all with customers, but they were constantly cleaning, straightening out the store, prepping silverware, etc. The food was excellent with huge portions. Overall, a very nice dining experience. I will be back.

The food is good but a bit pricey. The service is where everything falls apart. I have went twice for lunch and both times had poor service. Both times it took over 20 minutes to receive drinks (majority were water). We were told the sweet tea was not ready. It also took a long time to receive the food and an even longer time to pay to leave. The loaded fries/ nachos were supposed to come with beans and a lot of other toppings. This particular day they told us they did not have any.

Tried for 1st time on Sunday because Cotton’s was closed. Excellent. Good food and good prices. As long as they don’t change what they are doing, will keep coming back. Don’t let the name fool you. Thankfully it was Not salty. Just natural flavor. Smoke ring and crust was perfect. The sauce is bland. They need to offer a spicy bbq sauce. We are in south Texas.
