Salt & Vinegar is a restaurant located inside Blue Stallion Brewery here in Lexington, KY. Though we emphasize both German cuisine and American Southern cuisine, we do not limit ourselves strictly within those parameters and will utilize a more eclectic approach from time to time.
We are a chef owned & operated scratch kitchen and utilize as much local ingredients as possible while working hard to limit our food waste.
We offer a truly seasonal menu year-round in order to highlight some of the finest local produce and use freshness to our advantage. Furthermore, we implement a whole animal program and perform our own butchery of local proteins.
In summation, we do everything we can to create delicious food in a responsible way.

We got the pretzel and beer cheese and a shrimp dish! The appetizer was great and filling. The shrimp dish was spicy and flavorful. The sauce they drizzled on top was top notch. We definitely enjoyed the food and beers. It was a great place to walk to because after all the food a walk was needed!

The food was pretty good but overpriced. We got the brisket nachos, $18.50. The ingredients are all perfect, but our chips were definitely stale. And stale nacho chips are enough to ruin the whole dish.

I came here to try the food and was let down. The sauce was SO spicy I couldn’t enjoy or taste it. They did bring me the dish without the sauce and didn’t charge for the second dish which I appreciate.

Happened to swing by here while on a road trip and WOW, talk about a good decision. Food was excellent, beer selection was eclectic and the 3 I tried were great.

The tomato soup and grilled cheese are some of the best things ever. I am not a tomato soup person at all, but I had heard it was nice, so I tried it… it was incredible and they pair so well!

Went for a lunch stop while driving through Lexington and was impressed with this German American restaurant located inside the Blue Stallion brewery. We tried the chicken dumplings (with spatzle) and the chili made with bratwurst and cornbread-so good! Everything was tasty and flavorful, as good as the pictures! These dishes would go well with the wide selection of beers from the brewery. Definitely worth the stop!

Food was good but expected more both in volume and in spirit. Our whole group was excited to see hot browns on the menu as we hadn’t had one yet during our trip to Kentucky. All three in our group had this dish. To me it was more of an open face ham sandwich and less of what I have known to love as a hot brown but still a good plate of food, well executed. We did however get fried chicken on the way back to our air bnb because we were still a bit hungry, perhaps we should have had a couple of more beers to fill us up (the beers were really good too).
